Kevon Ferguson 6’1 PG Desert Valley Prep (#8) – Ferguson is transferring in from Tennessee. He is a dynamite pure PG with the quickness, shooting, and finishing ability to dominate a game. He understands P&R basketball at a high level, and is a knock down shooter in catch and shoot action, and off the bounce.
Harlan Nichols 6’5 PF Palo Verde (#36) – Coach Condron raves about him as a person. As a player I fell in love with his nimble feet and ability to create shots for himself in the post. The other thing that jumps out at you when you watch Nichols on film, is how hard he plays. High academic guy, that is receiving interest from several small west coast schools.
Mehki Walker 6’4 PF Cimarron (#37) – Mehki is going to be counted on for production and leadership this season. He has good athleticism, and matches up well with the centers in his league. Love his rim protection and rebounding, good chance that he ends up leading the Spartans in scoring and rebounding.
John Jenkins 6’7 PF American Prep (#40) – Jenkins is an enigma. There are times when you watch him play, that it looks like you’re looking at a sure fire high major prospect. Ton of length, and athleticism. If he can play with consistent, controlled passion then he has an opportunity to have a major impact for AP this season.
Mason Whittaker 6’5 SG Spanish Springs (#44) – I have to make a trip out to Sparks. Whittaker averaged 9 -7-2-2 last season for a good Spanish Springs squad. Versatile wing that produces in several ways. He has good size and is one of the better rebounding guards in the state.
Nicholas Attanasio 6’3 SG Faith Lutheran (#49) – Attanasio has one of the smoothest strokes in the city. It’s not just the mechanics on the lefty, he has terrific footwork, and overall shot preparation. Whether it was in game situations, or a practice, his shot looks the same every time. Faith Lutheran is going to surprise a lot of people this year, and I think the play of Attanasio will have a lot to do with that.
Robert Sherman 6’1 SG Centennial (#51) – Sherman is quickly making a name for himself. One of the best shooters in the city, Sherman has added playmaking to his arsenal. Plays on a team full of snipers at Centennial, it’s going to be difficult for defenses to lock in on just him. I expect Sherman to knock down multiple 3’s in games this season.
Brady Joiner 6’5 PF Shadow Ridge (#68) – It will be a lot of fun watching Joiner play this season. A no nonsense guy that gives his team everything. Joiner is the type of athlete that might not realize how good he actually is. His main focus is baseball, however he has a chance to have a major impact for the Mustangs on the hardwood as well.
Faizon Woods 6’1 PG Legacy (#70) – Somebody, will have to show me a player that plays harder than Woods. A transfer from Chicago, Woods brings an elite defensive intensity. With his quick hands, and pressure defense, he should be one of the state’s steals leaders.
