NC Hoops: Three Must-See Events in November
The high school basketball season is right around the corner in the state of North Carolina. Here’s a look at three must-see games and showcase events for college coaches and fans to get to in November.
1) Durham Academy @ Greensboro Day School – Tuesday, November 12
The Durham Academy Cavaliers will make an early-season trip to Greensboro Day on Nov. 12 to face an experienced Bengals squad. Greensboro Day has an experienced backcourt of 2020 guards Carson McCorkle and Cam Hayes while Durham Academy has 2021 guard Cole Sinclair and 2022 guard Marquise Rice on their end. Both teams have a few role players that could play a factor in winning the game. It will be an interesting matchup and should be a competitive game at the 4A level to kick off the high school season.
2) Phenom National High School Showcase – November 15-16.
November 15th and 16th will be two days filled with a number of talented teams at the Phenom National High School Showcase at Ravenscroft School. Friday afternoon, Ravenscroft kicks things off against Northwood Temple Academy. Moravian Prep will face off against ISA Academy out of Ohio after that. Oak Hill Academy (VA) will face off against Crestwood Academy after that one then Greenfield School and Cannon School will close things out.
There will be a number prospects to see from a number of schools in the event: 2020 forward Myles Evans (Ravenscroft), 2020 wing Brady O’Connell (Ravenscroft), 2020 guard Jay Hickman (Northwood Temple), 2020 wing Reggie Raynor (Northwood Temple), 2020 forward Josh Hall (Moravian), 2021 guard Shakeel Moore (Moravian), 2020 guard Creighton Lebo (Greenfield), 2020 forward Trey Pittman (Greenfield), 2022 guard Jaden Bradley (Cannon), 2022 forward DJ Nix (Cannon)
On Saturday, seven more games will occur with the addition of Concord First Assembly, Liberty Heights, Henderson Collegiate, Trinity Christian School, Combine Academy, GRACE Christian and Piedmont Classical to the teams from Friday.
3) Garner Magnet @ Millbrook – Thursday, November 21
Millbrook High School is back and better than ever with a deep and versatile lineup. They’ll have a challenge on their hands against the Garner Magnet Trojans and 2022 forward Asa White. With 2021 forward Will Felton in the rotation for the Wildcats, this is one game that should be quite the frontcourt matchup. 2021 sharpshooter Ben Hines is also another player to keep an eye on for Garner Magnet.
