Profile:
Hopkins established himself as the #2 junior in the state last season with Fenwick. The Chicago Catholic League star was one of the most productive players in the conference as a sophomore. That continued this spring as he made the move to the EYBL playing with MoKan. The forward showed he is a tough and competitive combo forward that can get buckets against the best competition in the country. Physical game that allows him to finish inside, but don’t overlook his skill set on the perimeter and a feathery jumper. In the best shape of his career.
Odds to Win:
15/1
Why He Can Win:
The Chicago Catholic League is looking for a star. This is it! Hopkins is going to own the conference the next two seasons and it will start this year. He will have big game opportunities early in the season to show that he can lead his team to wins and is one of the best players in the state.
Obstacles to Win:
Every year we mention how rare it is for a junior to win this award. Jabari Parker and EJ Liddell bucked the trend, but for the most part this is a senior based award. Also the Chicago Catholic League doesn’t get the recognition that the Chicago Public usually does from a publicity standpoint.
