From guards that could score the ball at a high level to players that were lock down defenders, we saw all types of guards in the building during this event.
Grace Christian 2020 Guard Phil Martin Jr: One of the leading scorers throughout the event, we saw him score the ball in numerous ways, showcasing his ability to read to defenders and attack at proper angles. His ability to knock down the trey ball at a high level is something that we had already seen from him but the aggressiveness to attack the basket is something he has clearly focused in on and improved.
Overhills HS 2020 Guard Jase Ford: Has a natural ability to score the ball, does a nice job at getting the separation that he needs to get his shot off. We saw him beat players off the dribble by using his quick first step as well as getting into the paint to draw fouls at a high rate.
Scotland Christian 2021 Guard Brodie Clark: A prospect who has begun to turn more heads over the past year with his big time numbers he has put on the high school level, Clark showed that he belonged as he held his own against some of ENC best. His scoring ability was on display as he knocked down shots from outside but we were also impressed with his passing ability and unselfishness. He understands how to play the game the right way and truly showed his ability to be a dual threat guard that can score or facilitate.
Washington HS 2021 Guard Omarion Blount: He didn’t waste much time at all getting going as he caught fire from three point land early on, knocking down quite a few treys. He gets good lift on his shot and has a pretty quick release which allows him to get his shot off without much of an issue. You won’t see much emotion from him on the court as he brings a business-like approach to the game, solid overall prospect.
Westover HS 2020 Guard Isaiah Bridges: This will be his second season at Westover HS after transferring in from Chicago and we fully expect him to have a breakout year. Offensively he showcased his ability to: Break down defenders, run a squad and score the ball on various levels. On the defensive end of the floor he got after opponents making things difficult for them and forcing some turnovers.
Liberty Christian 2021 Guard Daymon Beckwith: He’s a player that has put up fantastic numbers for his high school squad and came in to prove that he could do the same against some of the best in the area. Once again he was impressive with his ability to play through contact offensively and is lateral quickness to be able to stay in front of quick guards.
