Let’s start by saying that everybody is aware of top 50 level players Jalen Suggs, Dawson Garcia, and Kerwin Walton. Nobody needs to read a paragraph to learn more about them in terms of “we should take a look at them”. They of course headline the best 20 available senior list but our lead names in this article are different players.
Agwa Nywesh
Best Available Lead Guard – Agwa Nywesh of Austin
Agwa Nywesh is the best available high school ball handler in the state of Minnesota right now that can come into your program next year and contribute right away. Nywesh plays in a full court zone system at Austin that traps, jumps passing lanes and pushes the tempo (same with his summer team Heat West). He’s explosive, athletic, and has the skills to play both spots. A number of local D1s have called on Agwa and the team that offers will not regret it.
John Henry
Best Available Shooting Wing – Josh Brown of Park Center/John Henry of Eden Prairie
Brown plays for the team that will start the year ranked number one and John Henry plays for the team that will start at number two in Class AAAA. They are both outstanding shooters with similar paths to success. Henry plays on an EP team that is full of 3-4 year varsity experienced guys but Henry didn’t step into the fold until 1-2 years after Drake Dobbs, Austin Andrews, and Connor Christensen were already regulars. Josh Brown scored 3-4 buckets a game last year at Park Center but it was this 17u season that he exploded with the Minnesota Heat. Both defended and shot well enough to grab attention at the D1 level. Brown has an offer from Denver at the D1 level, Henry has an offer from Radford (Kent State, UNC-Wilmington, and UC Riverside have also been involved).
J’Vonne Hadley
Best Available Athletic Wing – J’Vonne Hadley of Cretin-Derham Hall
Hadley scored 29 a game at Mahtomedi using his physical gifts and developed skill to push his team to the state tournament. Now Hadley is at CDH and will likely start as the fourth guard/wing in a potent Raiders line-up that has a top PG in the nation’s sophomore class (Tre Holloman) surrounded by seniors. Hadley’s physical and explosive play led to an 8.5 point and four rebound a game average in the EYBL. Haldey has had North Dakota, South Dakota, Wofford, and others at his open gyms recently. Colorado State and UNC-Greensboro have also offered.
Cameron Steele
Best Available Four Man – Cameron Steele of Minnetonka
Steele has a couple D2 offers and has Abilene Christian showing some strong interest. Steeles stands about 6-foot-8 and has face-up skills that extend out to the three point line. He posts up strong and will beat just about anybody in a mid-range shooting contest. Scored 20 a game last year for Tonka.
Best Available Center – Calvin Sisk of Rockford
Calvin SiskMinnesota continues to develop into one of the elite places to recruit bigs therefore the post position is pretty well picked over already with Dain Dainja headed to Baylor, Ben Carlson to Wisconsin, Steven Crowl to Wisconsin, Jacob Jennissen to Colorado State, and Jacob Hutson to Loyola. Each of those players are good enough to play high major basketball. Next up? That’s seven foot Calvin Sisk who in the past twelve months has improved as much as any of them. Sisk had a great 17u year with the Minnesota Comets and is working hard each day to take future steps. A true seven footer who has tapped into about 17 percent of his potential.
