Joplin’s latest two offers have both come from in-state as UW-Green Bay and UW-Milwaukee pulled the trigger on the 6-foot-7, 215-pound combo forward.
UW-Milwaukee: “Coach Baldwin (Pat Baldwin) is a really nice guy. They recruit guys like me who can get up the floor and push the break.”
UW-Green Bay: “I like the coaching staff a lot. They’re really good people. They have a fun offense too.”
UNLV and DePaul both extended early scholarship offers to Joplin as well. Butler, Wisconsin, Purdue, Colorado State, Southern Illinois, and others have been expressing interest this fall.
The Badgers hosted Joplin for an unofficial visit over the weekend.
“It was crazy,” Joplin said. “I went there a couple times last year for football visits and it’s a big game every time. It’s always sold out. The people are really nice. I love the culture at Camp Randall Stadium.”
Joplin thinks his next offer could come from the Big East.
“The strongest interest I would say is Butler,” he said. “I’m getting to know their coaching staff well. I really like those guys. I’m going to visit their place for a game this season.”
As a junior, Joplin helped lead the Lancers to the Division 1 state championship, averaging 17 points per game. The unranked forward has no timetable for a decision, but expects to be committed before his senior season.
“I’m looking at how much they want me, if they recruit guys like me who have played their before,” he said. “How they prepare me for life after basketball.”
