With every year that passes, player’s stock may go up or down, but hard work always comes to light in the right situation. One player whose stock has really gone up is Nathan Hale’s Aaron von Bruck. The 6’4 senior guard has gotten better and better and he had a very strong showing at our Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo in September. He has a nice mixture of strength, mobility and explosiveness in the open floor. He can finish above the rim and plays his best in uptempo settings. Aaron has turned himself into a real college prospect and someone that colleges of the appropriate level should not sleep on any longer.
1. How have you been preparing for the high school season throughout this fall?
“As a team, we have a consistent work out plan for after school that includes weights, skill development and conditioning. I have also taken my diet more serious and I’ve been watching how I prioritize my time in terms of basketball and school. Fall league has also helped me get more comfortable playing the 1 and 2 position.”
2. What can we expect from the team this season and you individually?
“We all have individual goals and goals as a team. Our goal as a team is to be top in metro and hopefully win a state championship and we know what we have to do to reach that goal. So you can expect hard work, dedication and heart from every single player on the team. Individually, you can expect consistency from me on the court and in the classroom. My goal is to score 12-15 ppg and get a defensive award like all-metro first or second team defense. On top of that, at least 5 rebounds and 3 assists per game.”
3. How would you describe your game and what will you bring to the table for a college program?
“I am a very consistent defensive player and I like to play from the wing. I am learning to be more of a guard because that’s what I am expecting to play as at the next level. I like to share the ball and get my teammates open too. I also enjoy bringing together team chemistry and pushing teammates to work harder.”
Recruitment Update:
The recruitment process for Aaron has really just started, as Aaron is a late bloomer, but Blue Mountain College has shown serious interest. He has also been in contact with George Fox, Whitman College and Pacific University. He mentioned he’d also gotten a letter of interest from Seattle University. “I am open to playing at any college level but my ultimate goal is to play at a high level D2 or D1 program. I am also considering the juco route.”
It remains to be seen what level Aaron will end up at, but if he keeps his trajectory at the same rate, he will have some options for what his next step will be. Stay tuned for further updates.
