It’s hard to label anyone a “standout” in such an elite group of young men it is an All-Star game. However, a strong showing in this game can be a tone setter and give each young man a jolt of confidence going into what is shaping up to be an exciting season. Here are some of the young men on Team Brewer that will benefit greatly from a strong showing,
Dayshawn Wiley Desert Pines 6’3 SG 2021 – Wiley may be one of the most underrated prospects in the whole state. He can benefit the most from a strong showing. A game of this magnitude can take a kid who is considered a sleeper and make him into a household name. Wiley is an explosive athlete that can score in a variety of ways. He has so many tricks up his sleeve. Whether it is scoring in transition or playing without the ball in catch and shoot situations. In an All-Star game where not a ton of defense is usually played a scorer of Wiley’s caliber maybe be in for a big day. As a sophomore he lead a balanced attack with nearly 14 points per game.
Dominque Ford Desert Oasis 6’3 SG 2020 – It’s hard to call a young man who put up nearly 22 a game and 8 rebounds underrated. He could be one of the most under rated players in the state, but his versatility is something that should not be over looked. An All-Star game could certainty showcase his powerfully strong offensive game. He can catch and shoot from deep three point range. Can slash and score it in the paint.
Tavionte Jackson Las Vegas 5’11 PG 2022 – Jackson can benefit the most from this experience in my opinion. He showed leadership early on as a freshmen just a season ago. He has great grit and toughness and can benefit from playing with some of the older players on his team such as Julian Strawther and Daishen Nix. Jackson is a natural scorer with great handles. He can get buckets in a multitude of ways, Jackson is still young and learning the game so playing in a showcase game can help him grow. You know what they say? Iron sharpens iron.
Anthony Swift 6’6 PF 2021 – The National top 100 Forward is a long athlete with plenty of bounce. Swift is one of the rare players that doesn’t need to score to have an impact on the game. In All-Star games defense isn’t always a focus. Just don’t say that to Swift. He is a versatile defender that guards the post rather well. His game is a lot like his name he is swift. He can do it all. He is a solid rebounder those attributes were a huge reason why he earned scholarship offers from UNLV, UNR, Fresno State, Texas-El Paso and Southern Utah this summer.
Emmanuel “Mooch” Austin Legacy 6’0 SG 2021- Mooch has an incredible mid-range game. He is one of those players that is an Intelligent scorer he works smarter not harder so in a game such as this where scoring will be at an abundance a player that understands spacing and is a smart decision maker could play huge dividends.
