LYNWOOD, Ca.—Dinos Trigonis has had his finger tips on the pulse of Grassroots basketball for quite sometime and his best accomplishment, in my humble opinion, is the creation of these all region frosh/soph camps that take place in California, Texas, Illinois, and New Jersey. The camps are chock full of elite prospects and this was the exact case in California as super sophs Kijani Wright and Aidan Shaw took home MVP honors—and rightfully so.
Tajavis Miller (Servite)
2022, PG, 6-foot-3, 175 pounds
Joel’s Take: One of the bigger surprises of the summer continued his onslaught on the competion this fall. Miller is a true point guard who plays at a great pace. He has great size for the position, changes speeds, and advances the ball in transition. He can knock in the 3-ball consistently and he’s a true game manager in the half court set.
Kylan Boswell (Colony)
2023, PG, 6-foot, 155 pounds
Boswell may have been the best point guard at both ends of the floorJoel’s Take: The recent transfer from Chicago has definitely put his finger print on the pulse of So-Cal basketball. Boswell is the complete point guard package. He plays both ends with intensity and savvy. He has a nifty handle which allows him to blow by defenders and defensively his active hands and lateral quickness cause havoc. His jump shot needs to continue to smoothen out, but overall look for Boswell to make a name for himself this winter.
Dylan Andrews (Windward)
2022, PG, 6-foot-3, 160 pounds
Joel’s Take: Andrews exhibited why he is considered one of the elite guards in the West, regardless of class. He has a rangy frame with good length, solid quickness and speed, and his competitive spirit is high-level. He can score from all three levels or dazzle onlookers with is passing acumen.
Jordan Pope (Prolific Prep)
2022, PG, 6-foot-2, 160 pounds
Joel’s Take: After watching Pope for one full game, it was clear he was one of the best guards in camp and his motor never stops. He has a great burst off the dribble, can finish in the paint over length, and stop on a dime and nail the deep 3-point shot. His passing is clever in the half court and his head is always up in transition. Yep, that pretty much sums it up.
Milos Uzan (Desert Pines/NV)
2022, PG, 6-foot-3, 160 pounds
Joel’s Take: Uzan was at last year’s camp and he opened some eyes with his all-around game. He has grown both from a physical stand point as well as a skill stand point. He is a fluid point guard who is never in a hurry, gets to where he needs to go, and his decison making is impeccable. He has a willowy frame with long arms and it should fill out nicely as he matures. He isn’t a burner, but he changes speeds well and his savvy is high level.
