Today the League held its first annual Varsity All Star Game as a way to celebrate some of its players. In this article PH takes a look at the top players in the game
Fredy Vargas 6’1 SG Rancho 2022 – Vargas is going on my all sleeper team. The thing that strikes me most about him is his foot speed. He grabbed boards and was able to get from end to end in seconds. Shot the ball extremley well from both the 3 and the free throw line. He got a taste of action last season, I’m telling you, he’s going to put up some serious numbers this season.
Jamariel Brown 5’9 PG Canyon Springs 2021 – Brown doesn’t lack for confidence. He made a point to let me know he was a player. Then he stepped on the court and proved it. The shifty PG knocked down several open jumpers, and showed an ability to defend.
Ta’Qwawn Dillion- Hodges Rancho 6’0 2021 – Rancho is going to surprise some people this season. TDH was a bully all game. The 6’0 power guard continuously muscled his way to the rim. When opponents backed off he used his jumper as a weapon. It wasn’t necessarily pretty but he went for 35 so I’ll say it was effective.
Elijah Johnson 5’10 PG Durango 2022 – Johnson showed why he’s a top 15 player in the C/O 2022. The lefty showed a quick burst and the ability to finish around the rim. Has good mechanics and a natural release. Johnson is a pure PG, however he showed the ability to score the ball.
Donavan Webster 6’1 SG Cheyenne 2022 – Webster showed off his scoring ability and skill – set. He slashed, created and finished with both hands. Knocked down open shots and was opportunistic in transition. Webster plays at Cheyenne with C/O 2021 top 100 National player Glen Taylor, if he can play like this during the season, Taylor should have a nice running mate.
Tariq Lawson 6’2 SF Chaparral 2021– Lawson dosen’t lack for confidence or competitive spirit. Somebody should have told him it was a only an exhibition. He rebounded, hustled, and defended like it was game 7. All of this while rocking a hoodie and swimming trunks. He’s long and showed a good ability to knock down contested shots.
