Rated as the No. 5 prospect in the current Prep Hoops Missouri Class of 2020 rankings, the 7’0″ Bradford made his announcement on his Twitter account on Friday evening. Bradford considered schools such as Missouri, Kansas, Texas A&M and several others before casting his lot with the Wildcats of the Big 12 Conference.
As a junior, Bradford averaged 16.5 points, 11.8 rebounds and 2.5 blocks while shooting 69 percent from the field in helping the Panthers to a 23-8 record and a berth in the Class 5 state quarterfinals last season. During the summer grassroots season, Bradford was also a key cog for MoKan Elite’s 17U team that won the Nike EYBL Peach Jam Championship in July.
Bradford becomes the second top Class of 2020 prospect from St. Louis to commit to Bruce Weber’s Kansas State program. Chaminade College Prep standout Luke Kasubke, the Prep Hoops Missouri No. 4 prospect in 2020, committed to Kansas State weeks ago. Bradford and Kasubke were also teammates on MoKan Elite’s Peach Jam championship team.
Bruce Weber and his top assistant Chris Lowery have been very successful in recruiting St. Louis area talent over the years. Current Kansas State Wildcats include Xavier Sneed (Hazelwood Central), Sean Williams (Hazewlood Central) and Levi Stockard (Vashon). Former Parkway North standout Darrell Johnson was also a standout at Kansas State. Weber and Lowery also recruited a bevy of St. Louis area players to Southern Illinois University during the early 2000’s in building the Salukis into a powerhouse in the Missouri Valley Conference.
