Pre-Season Player of the Year
This award will go to one of the following prospects. Griffin Datcher IV is one of the top prospects of the Greater Houston area for his class. Griffin is a junior who is tough both physically and mentally. Scores the ball from all 3 levels of the court. He is bouncy and was putting players in the rim this summer. He is a Top Ranked Prospect in Texas for his class. Daylan Hamilton had a great spring/summer with Team Harden. Expect for him to bring that same energy with Klein Forest as he contends for district MVP. He is a scrappy defender who can shoot the ball and will put you in the rim.
Team to Beat
Klein Forest Golden Eagles will be the team to beat in this District once again. The richly traditional power looks to keep up the tradition of making the playoffs for the 15th consecutive year in a row. Fresh off their State Championship appearance last season expect for them not to disappoint the fans with another strong season. The Eagles will be led by Senior shooting guard Daylan “Twin” Hamilton along with Junior guard Marion Williams who is a top shooter in the Houston Area. Both of these prospects are trey ball shooters. Expect for Coach Black to have these guys ready on the defensive side of the ball as well. With some new names and faces to get to know.
Biggest Threat
Klein Bearkats will be a big threat in the District. Talk about good team that is fundamentally sound with a nice front-court which is led by Juniors Mason Tharp who was an All-District 1st team player and Thirhrey Smiley. Klein went 9-5 in district play were they finished in third place and went 16-14 overall. They ended up losing in the first round of the playoffs last season. With the district this year being down some expect for them to make a lot of noise.
