They bring in some new faces that will be names to know around the state if you don’t know them already and should have a good opportunity to still be playing deep into state tournament time.
2022 Guard Eurie Nunley: Has good upside to his game, longer wingspan and knows how to get to his spots. We saw him display a nice smooth shooting stroke from midrange as well as some solid ballhandling throughout the day.
2021 G/F BJ Freeman: He’s the name that you already know for sure as he numerous D1 programs that have already offered. One thing that we noticed is that he has seemed to have taken the next step as far as leadership goes. Constantly talking to teammates and coaches as well as being dominant with whoever was guarding him. He can bang inside the paint or step outside and showcase his perimeter/guard skills.
2020 Wing Jaquan Ross: Super bouncy player that can fill it up once he gets it going and is what you would call a 3 & D guy. Will most likely have to go the JC route and has already picked up some interest from various schools on that level. He’s just scratching the surface of how good he can be and will only get better over the next few years as he continues to work.
2021 Guard Javonte Long: It’s not very often that you see a player picking up full court on defense but that’s exactly what we saw from him. He plays the game with a toughness that you have to love and has a quick first step that lets him get in the paint often. Should have a big time year for the Comets as he can do quite a few things on the court.
2021 Guard Justin Bell: He’s a name that you should already know as he has achieved a nice amount of success during his career at Clayton already. He got better as the day went on, and displayed a solid ability to score the ball as well as impressive athleticism.
2023 Guard Bryan Harris: One of the younger players that we got the chance to see but there is plenty to like about his game. Has a nice midrange game, and keeps defenders off balance.
2020 Guard Parker Tate: He will most likely be a player that comes into games off the bench and provide a spark off the bench. His ability to defend and shoot the trey ball are ways that he will be able to help his team.
2021 Forward Jamal Johnson: He will be a player that will see his role as time goes on but he already does some things well. His workman like attitude is what we love , he blocks shots , rebounds and finishes inside the paint.
