The Class of 2020 is no exception as the senior class is full of players who play above the rim. Here are the top athletes in the senior class.
Lance Ware, PF Camden
It’s no surprise to see the Kentucky commit on this list. Ware is a high-flying power forward that always plays above the rim. His length and athleticism allow Ware to block shots and catch lobs out of his area. The Kentucky commit is one of the top athletes in the state and is in for a big senior season.
Noah Farrakhan, PG Patrick School
The IMG Academy transfer may only be 6’1″, but do not let his size foul you. Farrakhan is electric with the ball in his hands and is a blur in the open court. He has elite body control as he understands how to hang in the air and score in traffic. Farrakhan can also get above the rim and dunk on opponents, making him one of the top athletes in New Jersey.
Anthony Thomas, SF Olympus Prep
Thomas does not have the same name recognition as either Ware or Farrakhan, but he is an incredible athlete. The 6’8″ small forward can jump out of the gym as he explodes off the floor. Thomas has good short area quickness, which makes him a solid defender. He transferred out of the Patrick School to Olympus Prep where Thomas will show off his elite level athleticism.
Mikah Johnson Jr., SG Newark East Side
The Monmouth commit is one of the best athletes in the nation. His speed is underrated as Johnson Jr. moves his feet as well as anyone in New Jersey. Despite being only 6’4″, Johnson Jr. is a big-time shot blocker because of his vertical and timing. He is the top defender in the state because of his athleticism and will have a monster senior season for Newark East Side.
DJ Woodbury, CG Burlington City
Woodbury is different from all the other players on this list as he will not be playing basketball in college. The 6’2″ combo guard is headed to Temple to play safety and that athleticism shows on the court. Woodbury has an elite first step as he excels at getting to the rim and finishing in traffic. The Temple commit is a high-level athlete that will show out in his senior season.
Tyje Kelton, SF Dunellen
Many fans outside the state have probably never heard of Kelton, but do not sleep on him. The 6’5″ small forward is a three-sport athlete as he excels at football, basketball and track. Kelton’s best feature is his body control as he knows how to maneuver his body in traffic. He’s strong at the point of attack, moves well laterally and can jump over defenders who get in his way. Kelton is one of the top athletes in the state and should shoot up the rankings with a strong senior season.
