JD Davison, 6’3 PG, Calhoun: This kid has high major written all over him. He could be considered as the best player in the state regardless of class. He has freakish athletic ability which has been on full display this summer on the EYBL circuit playing 17u. Just google the name and you will see the highlight dunks he is able to throw down. Don’t get it confused he is much more than just a dunker. He plays at an incredible pace and has exceptional vision and passing ability. He needs to continue to work on his ability to score at a high clip from mid-range and beyond the arch. A legit comparison would be Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies.
Elijah White,6’2 SG, Sidney Lanier: After not seeing a lot of minutes as a sophomore playing behind some high major talent, this kid is poised for a breakout season. He is a big, strong, and physical lefty that thrives at playing bully ball from the perimeter. He has a very good jump shot with range and is able to get to his spots and score in the mid-range. He also has the ability to be a dominant on-ball defender. We look for him to be a force for the Poets this season.
Dawson Sarblah 6’5 SF, Greenville: This kid looks and plays the part of today’s extremely important role of a “3-and-D-Guy.” He runs the floor well and is a dog on the defensive end. He needs to continue to work on his jump shot and become more of a knockdown shooter. His athletic ability from the wing position is second to none in his class and will have a big year this season for the Tigers.
RayQuan Taylor, 6’8 PF, Carver (Montgomery): This long and wiry athlete will get better and better with more time on the court. He is raw talent that possesses some abilities that u cant teach. He is great at running the floor and finishing in transition from high above the rim. He has really good hands and does a great job of catching and finishing in traffic. He needs to continue to improve his overall offensive game, but like mentioned he is a raw talent that hasn’t played a lot of basketball. His ability to challenge shots at the rim and either change or obliterate them completely. Last week he verbally committed to the University of Alabama Huntsville (UAH).

After losing 2 top five class of 2020 players due to transfers he looks poised to lead the Poets back to the regional final. His length and ball-handling ability makes it virtually impossible to stay in front of him in isolation situations. He has worked himself to a point where he can withstand the pressure of being a lead guard who has to score and facilitate at the same time. Look for “Greedy” to do a lot of eating this season.
