These are aggressive scorers who can manufacture points almost effortlessly, and score 20+ points on any given night. We won’t delve into the players who have already committed to a college because they are set. So let’s take a look at some 2020 Houston area #BucketBoys that are still available for schools on the next level.
Marquice Scott
6’2 Guard | Dobie High School
YOUNG BULL
It’s not lost on me that the mascot for Dobie is a Longhorn so excuse the pun. However, Marquice is a bull on the court. He is extremely strong, has the body to withstand contact and can shoot efficiently. All of this is bolstered by his raw athleticism. He is an explosive player that complements his rough and tough inside game with smooth play on the perimeter.
Davon Wright
6’5 Guard | Cy-Springs High School
SILKY SMOOTH
Davon plays with so much finesse that, at times, you forget how tall he actually is. He moves on the court with grace and with ease. As a result, it frees him up to score in a plethora of ways. From distance, Davon is pretty efficient but his ability to create good looks with the ball in his hands makes me a little reluctant to label him as merely a shooter. At his height he can shoot over most defenders and can finish at the rim.
Elijah Elliott
6’0 PG | St. Thomas High School
E TOO SHIFTY
Elijah talks the talk and walks the walk. He is the type of player that can tell you what he is about to do and still execute. This is due to elusiveness that makes it difficult for defenders to counter his movements. Elijah is extremely shifty, crafty with the ball and able to easily get to his spots. He is a great kid with a big personality that just happens to be a three level scorer as well.
Jordan Ivy-Curry
6’1 PG | LaMarque High School
SILENT ASSASSIN
Jordan doesn’t say much, he just produces. This also characterizes his game. You can think that he is having a quiet game and isn’t doing much, but when you look at the box score he’ll have 25 points. Jordan manipulates his body well to get his shots off in traffic and can shoot the 3 ball. His athleticism is surprising to say the least. At face value, you wouldn’t expect for him to jump as high as he actually can.
Antwon Norman
6’0 PG | Yates High School
PLAY LIKE A PRO
Antwon is an extremely skilled point guard that can score from multiple areas of the floor. In addition, he has the ability to allow his defense to create easy offense on a consistent basis. However, in a half court set and the ball in his hands, Antwon can create space for himself and score on all three levels. He plays like a 10 year pro who minimizes mistakes, gets teammates involved and take good shots.
Justin Hill
6’0 PG | Travis High School
STRONG AND AGGRESSIVE
Justin is an aggressive lead guard that also keeps his team involved. He runs the floor well and dictates the tempo of the game. Consequently, he often finds himself in the paint where he uses his body well to shield off defenders and score. Justin is also deceptively athletic and has the ability to dunk in traffic. Moreover, due to his athleticism, Justin is often able to get his shot off or get by his defender with ease.
