It’s quite simple, the higher the GPA and test scores, the more college scholarship opportunities available. In this article PH takes a look at some of the top academic performers in Nevada Prep Basketball.
Triston Scott 6’3 SG Spring Valley 2022 GPA: 3.8 – Scott’s a good combination player/student. He begins his sophomore year as a sharpshooter for a talented Spring Valley squad. Good size for his position, he’s on the right track with his 3.8 GPA.
Robel Negasi 6’3 SF Las Vegas 2021 GPA: 3.4 – Negasi is a talented forward, poised to have a big year for the Wildcats. A dedicated student with a solid GPA. If he continues to improve on the court and in the classroom, he’ll make a nice small school pickup.
Jaydyn Dalton 6’0 SG Spring Valley 2021 GPA: 3.7 – Dalton is a double sleeper for me. A natural shooter, that releases it effortlessly from range. A 3.7 student, expect Dalton to be a key part of that aforementioned talented Spring Valley squad.
Braden Lamar 6’5 SF Bishop Gorman 2020 GPA: 3.4 – Lamar strikes me as the kind of guy that gets an opportunity at a small school, and goes on to be an all time great for that university. A contributor on a powerhouse Gorman team, Lamar has received interest from Navy, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, and several D3 schools.
Jacob Bowman 6’0 PG Cimarron 2020 GPA: 3.6 – Bowman is a sharpshooting PG for Cimarron. He’s a team leader, that sets a competitive edge on and off the court.
Nickolas Attanasio 6’4 SG Faith Lutheran 2020 GPA: 3.7 – Attanasio is a knock down shooter, for a disciplined, system oriented Faith Lutheran squad. His combination of student athlete has attracted interest from Berry University.
Matt Valentine 5’10 PG Shadow Ridge 2020 GPA: 3.6 ACT: 21 – Valentine is one of the top sharpshooters in the city. The lefty’s a knock down shooter/ultimate floor space guy. A 3.6 student, Valentine opens himself up to several D3 opportunities.
Harlan Nichols 6’5 PF Palo Verde 2020 GPA: 3.8 ACT: 30 – Nichols is a rebounder, and perimeter defender for Palo. His resume in the classroom is gaining attention as well, as he recently visited Occidental College.
Brady Joiner 6’5 PF Shadow Ridge 2020 GPA: 3.9 ACT: 29 – Joiner checks multiple boxes, he’s a two sport star, that also has an impressive academic resume. It will probably be on the baseball diamond, but Joiner will definitely be part of a college program next season.
Cade Savell (featured image) 6’5 SF Desert Oasis 2020 GPA: 4.0 ACT: 24 – One of the leading returners for Desert Oasis, Savell is a terrific shooter and athlete. He’s received a ton of interest from several high academic schools including, John Hopkins, George Fox, SUU and Hiram University.
Isaiah Sem 6’1 SG Las Vegas 2020 GPA: 4.2 ACT: 23 – Sem is the unquestioned leader of the Wildcats. A good scorer, Sem has an opportunity to catch the eye of several high academic programs with his shooting and achievements in the classroom.
