Sebastian Mack 6’1 SG Durango – Mack is one of the purest scorers in the class. Lighting first step. He really puts defenders in a bind. If you give him space he’ll bury the jumper, play to close and he’s gone. He should see significant minutes this season for Durango. I envision him turning into one of the state’s top 6 men. It’s going to be difficult enough to deal with the two D1 guards the Trailblazers already have. Bring in a fresh Mack off the bench and most teams simply won’t have the depth to contend.
Sterling Knox 6’3 SG Durango – As if Mack wasn’t enough of a problem, teams will also have to contend with Knox. One of the smoothest players in the class. Knox is already a professional shooter, who understands shot preparation. I envision him as a floor spacer. The threat of Knox should open driving lanes for the elite guards on the team.
Earnest Brown 5’8 PG Las Vegas – To play as a freshmen you have to be really good. I say this because Earnest Brown is really good. He walks into a situation where the player in front of him is only one year older. However HC Jason Wilson may just have to play them together. Brown has been playing against older players most of his career so don’t expect this situation to phase him. I envision his role as a primary ballhandler and perimeter defender either starting or coming of the bench.
Osiris Grady 6’6 PF Silverado – Grady put his name on the map this summer. His athletic ability, and rebounding are going to translate right away. Of course there is his 6’6 frame. I envision Grady providing rim protection and rebounding immediately for a loaded Silverado squad.
Jaiden Fisher 5’8 PG Desert Oasis – I love humble freshmen. Fisher fits that mold. The skilled PG is just scratching the surface of what he will be. The best part about it is he doesn’t even realize how good he currently is. He is a quick tempo changing PG with a slick handle. I envision him backing up Nathan Van, and providing a contrast to the 6’2 Van’s cerebral game.
Darnell Fizer 6’4 SG Silverado – What Grady brings to the interior, I expect Fizer to bring to the perimeter. The wing is a knock down shooter. He is nice enough off the bounce to use the threat of his shooting to get into the lane and create for himself. I envision him as a heat check type of player. (Think JR Smith or Nick Young) There are going to be some nights this season when he gets hot and it’ll be impossible to take him off the floor.
