Players went at it in front of college coaches and brought some of their best stuff. One of the best parts of showcases in particular is seeing those players emerge that were not necessarily on your radar that has a big day. Here is a few of those names that stood out at the event.
Nolen Meriweather – Vista Peak
Meriweather is a small guard but he is a guard that makes plays on the court. He is a true point that is very quick with the ball in his hands and runs the offense. He defended well at the showcase as well as knocked down 3-pointers over taller defenders. He penetrated the defense and broke players down. He’s a player to watch moving forward.
Marcus Luna – Pueblo West
Luna made the right plays in the court as he ran the break, filled lanes correctly and finished around the rim. He moved his feet on defense and also was a spark plug. What stood out about his was the ability to make plays without scoring.
Alex Morales – Wheat Ridge
Morales finished at the rim as an off-ball guard. He ran the floor well and scored in bunches. I liked what I seen as a microwave scorer that brought energy when he was on the court. He can score in various ways.
Xavion Davison—Hinkley
As one of the smaller players in the whole event it was interesting to see Davison get to the rim and finish. He is a creative finisher that made some tough layups, he also got into the defense and created for others as a true playmaker that does not back down. He ran the offense well and did things that stick.
Marcus Rodgers Jr. – Northfield
Rodgers did a bit of everything at the event and that versatility had him as a standout. He knocked down a couple of 3-pointers in one game, he got to the rim and finished in others. He can score relatively easy, he hustled and also remained aggressive on offense. Solid day for him.
