Players went at it in front of college coaches and brought some of their best stuff. Here are some of the best knockdown shooters for the event.
Ryan Schneider – Longmont
Schneider came to the event as a relatively unknown player but seen his stock rise as a taller guard that spaced the floor. He was using his 6’2 frame to let it fly and knocked down a few shots from deep as well as mid-range. Schneider will excel in situational basketball.
Schaefer Reichart – Doherty
Reichart can get to the rim and score, he also can create for himself off of the dribble but what he was able to do in half-court sets as he was set up in the corner knocking down jump-shot after jump-shot is what had him as a standout on the day. Reichart can shoot it. He is a high IQ guard that can switch it up and his ability to consistently knock down shots as well with serve him well.
Mateo Magana—Northfield
Magana was another player that was able to get himself going from deep. He is a corner specialist that was knocking down his jumper consistently. He moves well without the ball, makes good decisions as far as spacing and he finds holes in the defense. Like what I have seen from him this offseason.
Tanner Holtman—Grandview
Holtman started out the game with a mid-range knockdown and got comfortable there for the day. He is a shooter that is able to stop and pop for jumpers with also being able to extend that long range as well. He can create for himself off of the dribble but what I liked was his ability to find spots in the defense and be ready to shoot as well. These are the type of looks he will get this year for Grandview who have one of the most patient offenses in the state. He has worked on areas that he will excel on this year and it is enjoyable to envision what it will look like on an offense suited for his strengths.
Jordan Nguyen – Erie
Nguyen is a player that moves without the ball and also ran the offense. What he was also able to do was consistently knock down open jump shots. He is a combo-guard that looks comfortable with the ball in his hands and also on the wing. He can score inside and out and is patient on offense.
Alfonso Salais – Thornton
Salais is a marksman from deep. He has a high arching jumper that takes a bit for him to get off but once it is up there—it is falling. Salais will excel in the half-court set with plays that are set up for him. He looks comfortable coming off of a screen and being ready to shoot as he was an under the radar player that consistently knocked down jump shots.
Logan Owen – Belleview Christian
Owen is a scorer. He quietly had a 20-point game and it was for his ability to knockdown shots which opens up the rest of his game. He is a patient offensive player that takes what the defense gives him. He is not afraid to shoot the ball and he does enough, moving without the ball to get himself some free shots. I enjoy watching the kid from the smaller classification standout in these settings as he shows it is not too fast of a pace for him.
