Dowar Jioklow | 6’8” | Flint Hill 2020
One of the most under recruited kids in the state, Jioklow is easily one of the best available bigs left and has shown good improvement and changes over the past few seasons. The 6’8” lefty has decent ball skills and good passing ability, he plays hard around the rim and rebounds and he’s a natural athlete that can play above the rim and run in transition. He’s playing alongside George Washington commit Noel Brown which should make for one of the more formidable front courts in the state.
Marcellus Avery | 6’6” | VA Academy 2020
Last year’s VISAA D3 POY has transferred to VA Academy from Life Christian in Richmond, which should be a good chance for him to get out of his comfort zone and show what he can do in a different area with a different group. He’s an extremely bouncy and long forward that can play inside-out and has the ability to finish way above the rim both in traffic and in transition. He can also put it on the deck and create his own shot, he makes shots from all three levels and he rebounds well on both ends of the floor.
Kwaku Agyapong | 6’9” | Middleburg 2020
“Kwak” as he’s known by his teammates and coaches has seen his stock really go up recently with offers from Virginia State and Catawba. He’s still pretty raw but at 6’9” he has a good frame that should tone up in college and he’s a good athlete that can play uptempo and make plays at the rim on both ends of the floor. He has good timing as a shot blocker, he can run the floor and finish above the rim and he can use his strength to carve out space and finish in the paint.
Chase Ackerman | 6’3” | Fairfax 2020
Ackerman isn’t the biggest guy or biggest name on this list, but he plays big with his strong frame and natural bounce that allows him to catch lobs and rebound the basketball well. He’s a natural athlete who’s good at many things including baseball where he throws over 90, he can guard and play multiple positions and is a great glue guy who will do a little bit of everything for his team.
Xzavier Long | 6’5” | Middleburg 2021
One of the biggest transfers in the Northern VA area, Long comes to Middleburg from St. James in Maryland and brings with him a lot of natural athleticism and upside college coaches should be excited about. He’s a long, natural athlete that can play both on the perimeter and guard in the post, he finishes well around and above the rim and he uses his athleticism to be a versatile defender and rebounder. He plays with a solid motor and has good versatility, and his natural athleticism is one of the biggest reasons behind that.
Tyrell Harris | 6’6” | Potomac 2021
Harris is a part of a talented core at Potomac that continues to grow and should be competitive in the Northern VA area for public schools. He’s a strong kid with a good motor that can play inside-out, he owns the glass on both ends of the floor and he uses his size and bounce to challenge shots well around the rim. He can play in transition and uses his athleticism to make plays in the paint and around the rim on both ends.
David Solomon | 6’6” | Lake Braddock 2022
One of the most impressive post prospects in the entire state, Soloman is a powerful and dynamic athlete who plays all over the rim on the offensive end. He can run the floor and catch and finish, he can get his own off the offensive glass with put backs and he’s stronger than most of the guys he matches up with, even the older ones. If he can continue to develop, he has all of the athletic tools to be a high level player moving forward.
