Over 100 players made their way to Anaheim, CA to compete with some of the best talent the state has to offer. We decided to go ahead and create a list of the best individual performers from the weekend. Please note this is strictly based off of performance and not a ranking of the best prospects.
MVP: 2021 6’6 SF Grant Tull Grant Tull 6'6" | SF Gridley | 2021 State CA-N (Gridley HS) – In the end I went with Tull for his consistency. He was dominant in every game I watched. The ease with which he scored his buckets will be the lasting memory for me. It felt like he never missed. Intriguing prospect who is poised to put his name on the map this season.
1st Team:
2021 6’2 SG Kenneth Simpson JR (Chaminade HS) – One of the best defenders I’ve seen in person. Easily could have been my MVP. He attacks at both ends. Showed off great athleticism. Simpson was able to use his strength speed and quickness to get to the rim with ease.
2021 6’1 SG Keavie Love Keavie Love 6'2" | CG El Camino | 2021 State CA-S ( El Camino HS) – If he was 3 inches taller, we would be talking about a high major guy. He was unstoppable going to the bucket. Strong physical athlete, he and Simpson were on the same team and they just overwhelmed people with their athleticism.
2023 6’8 SF Zachary Davidson (Mater Dei Catholic HS) – Kid was a stud all day. He consistently made plays. Extremely advanced game. Really excited to see what he and his brother do this season.
2021 6’3 SG Geronimo Rubio De La Rosa Geronimo Rubio De La Rosa 6'1" | PG Brookside Christian | 2021 TX (Brookside Christian HS) – He was as good as advertised. A speedy wing player, De La Rosa effected the game at both ends of the floor.
2021 6’4 SF Trevan Martin Trevan Martin 6'4" | SG Santa Fe Christian | 2021 State CA-S (Santa Fe Christian HS) – Martin was consistent on both ends. He blocked several shots on defense, and showed off his playmaking ability on offense. Good athlete with a nice outside shot.
2nd Team:
2020 6’3 SF Andre Parris Andre Parris 6'3" | SG Loyola | 2020 State CA-S (Loyal HS) – Parris was one of the top 2020 players at the camp. Athletic guard, he scored several buckets in transition. He also displayed a nice mid – range game. Solid two way player.
2021 6’9 PF Nicholas Davidson (Mater Dei Catholic HS) – Want to make sure big brother gets some love. Davidson showed why he is one of the states most talented players. I wish he would have gotten more touches. He showed good offensive rebounding skills, the ability to run the floor and a nice touch around the basket.
2020 6’5 PG Garrett Schaefer Garrett Schaefer 6'2" | PG Temecula Valley | 2020 State CA-S (Temecula Valley HS) – Up Tempo Playmaking PG. Loved watching Schaefer play. He’s going to end up somewhere and put up ridiculous assist numbers. Nothing flashy, he simply plays the position. His size makes him a matchup nightmare.
2021 6’2 PG Hayden Gray Hayden Gray 6'2" | PG Santa Fe Christian | 2021 State CA-S (Santa Fe Christian HS) – Gray proved to be a playmaking point. Set teammates up and controlled the tempo. He also shot the ball well during the session. High Academic guy with interest from several Ivy League Programs.
2020 6’3 SG Jake Hlywiak Jake Hlywiak 6'3" | SG Valencia | 2020 State CA-S (Valencia HS) – Knock down shooter. Hlywiak displayed his sweet shooting stroke from both distance and mid – range. Willing passer, with a better than average handle. Shot the ball effortlessly no matter the range.
