Several prospects are making national names for themselves, but others have proven that they are not to be slept on. Here are 5 point guards that scouts and coaches need to track this fall:
Evan Smith (Oak Mountain)- Smith is a high IQ floor general. He is a playmaker on both ends of the court. This kid is not afraid to sacrifice his body and take charges. Smith is very steady and gets the ball to open teammates. This kid is also an underrated athlete.
Jamarion Ryans (Hale Co)- Kam Woods 2.0. This kid can fill it up from anywhere on the court. Ryans’ biggest knock is consistency. If this 5’11 point guard becomes more consistent with his shot making, he will shoot up the rankings board. Jamarion Ryans does not lack confidence.
Michael McGraw (Oxford)- McGraw has a big opportunity with his transfer to Oxford. He is a solid playmaker and very good outside shooter. It will be good to see him playing against better competition at the prep level and with a more talented team.
Josh Price (John Paul II)- Price can play. Don’t judge his size, but judge this point guard’s ability with the ball in his hands. He is crafty and can score from all 3 levels on the court. Price is poised to have an even bigger sophomore season.
Zeke Griffin (Covenant)- This point guard has an elite ability to stretch the floor with his 3 point shooting. Griffin has an opportunity this season to show how well rounded his game has become. If this kid shows improved playmaking ability, then he has a chance to really have an impact this season.
