Entering his sophomore campaign, he says he is looking forward to having another successful season with his team and doing whatever it takes to win. Last season, the Eagles finished 19-9 winning the Class 6A-District 13 title, losing to Eustis in 6A region semifinals, 60-58.
“This past season at Poinciana was really tough. I came in as a freshman and was put on varsity straight from the jump. I had to overcome not playing many games, but that just pushed me to work harder,” Bromell-Hernandez told Prep Hoops. “Throughout the season I improved very much and even had big moments against big teams in our district. Most importantly last season made me become better not just as a player, but as a person who had to overcome challenges mentally.”
This summer, Bromell-Hernandez started out with Showtime Ballers but finished off with Team Parsons in July. He said it went great with CP25 and that he learned a lot from his coaches which led to a great experience.
No offers or interest have come yet.
He pointed to his top strengths as rebounding, getting to the basket and finishing from the free throw line. As for his focus this season, he said he is looking to become better defensively and is aiming to be a top defender in his area.
Heading into his sophomore campaign this should be a successful one for Bromell-Hernandez as he plays alongside 2021 6’7″ forward Jahsean Corbett returning as the leading scorer a season ago. Poinciana is now in Class 6A-District 6 along with Bartow, Edgewater, Lake Howell, Liberty and Winter Haven. This should be a fun year for the Eagles as Bromell-Hernandez proves his worth as a big body, core rebounder and fighter down low.
