The top five players remain the same, but there is an update in the order in which they are now ranked. Each of these five players will undoubtedly play in a power conference with the class being so strong at the top. A majority of the excitement surrounding the upcoming high school season is due to the 2021 class, so without further ado, here is the updated top five.
#1 6’10 PF Paolo Banchero (O’Dea HS) – The state’s top prospect regardless of class has only helped his stock as the year has moved forward. At 6’10, Paolo has wing skills and can score inside and out with his powerful frame. It will not be too long before Paolo creeps into the number one ranking conversation in the USA. He is currently consider 10 schools, including bluebloods Duke, Kentucky and UNC.
#2 6’9 C Kaden Perry (Battle Ground HS) – The most bouncy player in the top five, without a doubt. Kaden is an energizer bunny with springs for legs all packed into a wiry-strong 6’9 frame. Kaden has already committed to Gonzaga and will spend the winter with Battle Ground blocking shots, bringing his usual energy and expanding upon his skillset. Kaden’s upside is very high and I love how hard he plays. Kaden is a legitimate top 100 player nationally.
#3 6’9 PF Jackson Grant (Olympia HS) – One of the biggest stock risers from this spring and summer. Jackson has been invited to play in a couple of major events including the USA Basketball Mini Camp this October. The 6’9 four man has also seen his recruitment sky rocket with schools like Wisconsin, Cal, UW and more become heavily involved
#4 6’2 PG Nolan Hickman (Eastside Catholic HS) – Nolan is without a doubt the state’s top point guard prospect. He has a great feel for the game and can balance scoring and passing. His athleticism is trending upwards as well, but he is more than comfortable playing the game below the rim. He makes good reads coming off of ball screens and schools like Oklahoma, UW and more have offered the junior as a result. *Feature image
#5 6’6 SF Shane Nowell (Eastside Catholic HS) – The strong and sturdy wing player is yet another power conference player in the 2021 class. In any other class in Washington, Shane could be number one. His shot making ability is improving and his jumper appears to have improved some and that will be key for how good he can truly be. He is a great slasher and finisher at the rim. UW, WSU, Oklahoma and more have offered Nowell.
