It is well published that the 2021 class has great top tier talent, as well as depth of talent overall. While everyone expects players in the top 10-15 to have big junior seasons, there is plenty of talented players that do no currently hold Division 1 offers just yet.
Who is poised for a big junior season?
2021 6’1 PG Cobi Campbell (Puyallup HS) – Puyallup loses a lot of its fire power from a year ago, but junior Cobi Campbell returns for the Vikings and he will definitely be improved from his already successful sophomore season. Cobi is a left-handed PG that can shoot it from deep and create his own shot with a series of ball handling moves. Puyallup runs a lot of dribble drive and shoots a fair amount of threes and Cobi should have the ball in his hands a good amount of time to be able to show everything that he is capable of. Don’t be surprised to see Cobi average over 20 points per game.
2021 6’7 SF Hudson Hansen (Bellevue HS) – Hudson has continued to progress year by year and now stands at 6’7, while still having solid guard/wing skills. Bellevue will look to him as one of their main scorers and rebounders, while playing multiple positions on both sides of the ball. Hudson can finish above the rim and has great length, which will make him a difficult matchup in the 3A KingCo.
2021 6’8 SF Layton Duff (Woodinville HS) – Layton comes into the season as more of a sleeper once again, but he is truly primed to have a breakout junior season. At 6’8, he has a versatile skill set and his athleticism is starting to come around. He can shoot the midrange jumper and rebounds very well with his length in the paint. Layton should be right on track to average a double-double and contend for first team all league in 4A KingCo. He has multiple Division 2 and Division 3 schools recruiting him at this time.
2021 6’2 G Sam Phillips (Cashmere HS) – Sam did a little bit of everything for Cashmere a season ago and did a good job at that. With leading scorer, Mason Landdeck’s departure, Sam will need to do a bulk of the scoring and he has the motor and skills to do so. He is a really nice small college prospect at this stage of his career and possesses a coachable attitude and positivity about him.
2021 6’4 PG Steven Westermeyer (Kamiakin HS) – Steven is a late blooming point guard with a really nice skill set at 6’4. He gets his teammates involved and he can also take advantage of smaller defenders by rising up over them for the pull up jumper. Kamiakin should make a nice playoff run this year and Steven will have to play a big role in that. *Feature image
