Best Scorer: 2021 Dontrez Styles, Kinston
There were a lot of scorers on display at the Fab40 but none did it any better than five-star 2021 forward Dontrez Styles. Styles put up just six points in the first game of the day but after that he got a rhythm and never looked back putting up double-doubles in the rest of the games. He got rebounds and got up the floor with purpose and turned a lot of heads with his ability to make plays with the ball in his hands.
Best Rebounder: 2022 Avion Pinner, Riverside (Williamson)
Avion Pinner came into camp with a bit of a name with him and he stood up to his name with his ability to snag rebounds and control the battle on the boards. Pinner used his 6-foot-5 frame well to position himself down low for rebounds on both ends and showed why the boards are his biggest asset.
Best Defensive Player: 2020 Isaiah Bridges, Westover
Isaiah Bridges was a strong combo guard that did most of his damage on the ball defensively. He didn’t look to score every time he touched the ball on offense but he made an effort to force a turnover on the defensive side of the ball. He’s due to make noise this season on a gritty Westover basketball squad.
Best Shooter: 2020 Everett Lewis, Dixon
Dixon High School has a gem on their hands with 2020 guard Everett Lewis. Lewis had a strong day shooting the ball from the arc and was even more aggressive slashing to the basket. Lewis was a confident shooter from 3-point land all day long and it showed with multiple makes from 3-point range in the showcase games.
Playmaker: 2020 Malachi Borders, Living Water Christian
Malachi Borders is a prospect that’s really come along at the point guard position. He showed off his ability to make good things happen when the ball came his way on a number of occasions at the Fab40 Camp. He defended the ball well on one end and made tons of positive things happen as his team’s floor general.
