Here were the standouts from the 2021 class:
Carter Van Hammond PF 6’9 200 Perry (PHH Prep)
-Athletic big who moves really well in space. He was way above the rim on multiple thunderous dunks. He runs the floor better then anyone in the class and can switch on guards and get in a stance. He still needs to work on his perimeter shooting as he holds the ball too long on his release and shoots it on the way down. He can block shots and rebounds at a high rate. His hook shot with his left or right hand is very good. He has recently put on 10 lbs of muscle.
Matur Dhal C 6’10 190 Millennium (PHH Prep)
-Another fluid big man. He is starting to handle the ball and take it all the way and flush it down. He is very thin but like Van Hammond, he moves well from end to end. His post footwork is improving and he can hit the occasional perimeter jumper.
Jake TenBerge F 6’6 180 PHH Prep
-Skilled forward who is best scoring from the perimeter. He has a sweet shooting stroke from mid to the 3pt line. He can put the ball on the floor and drive it to the basket. He is a decent athlete and can improve his defense but his mind, IQ for the game and skill get it done.
Jamison Kay SG 6’3 165 Gila Ridge
-Long and lean gunner. He hit five 3pt shots in the Top-40 game and every attempt looked good. He has great length and is shifty enough to get the defense off to him ot gain separation and shoot it. He uses his length to collect steals, but he will need to add weight to his frame moving forward.
Monta Tyler Jr. PG 5’11 150 Casa Grande
-Jet scoring lead guard was one of the surprises of the camp. He has never played club or went vs many big schools so it was very eye opening for him. That being said, he held his own and made the Top-20 game. He gets into the lane with a tight handle and the lefty shoots it well from deep. His speed is obvious but he will need to learn how to play nice with others. He is used to being the best player on the court at all times and not distributing often. He did make some nice passes but most of the time he is letting it fly. A nice sleeper prospect from a small school.
Austin Hutchings PG 5’11 165 Perry
-One of the rare true PG’s out there. He is consistently looking up and advance passing to his teammates. He has good speed and quickness to drive and kick it out to a shooter. He can also shoot it from deep plus pull-up from mid-range. The cerebral PG is a perfect fit helping facilitate the ball to big man Dylan Anderson.
