This weekend that vicinity is Seattle, and the Prep Hoops Washington Expo. For most of these players, this will be my first opportunity to verify what I’ve seen on film. In this article PH takes a look at some of those players in the C/O 2022.
Jackson “Cooper” Church 6’8 PF Tahoma (PHW #17 2022) – I really liked what I saw on film from Church. Skilled big that runs the floor. He can also step out and and knock down shots from 3. Extremely active on the defensive end. Church showed an ability to make a defensive impact. Yes he protects the rim, however he also does a good job of using his length to deter perimeter passes. I want to see if he defends at the Expo like he does on film. If he does we’re looking at a high major guy.
Nicholas Ferencko 5’11 PG Bellarmine Prep – Ferencko is a bucket. He shows the ability to knock down open shots and, separate from defenders. Solid handle. I’m Interested in evaluating his play-making skills live.
Tyler Linhardt 6’7 PF Kings (PHW #1 2022) – The clock is already ticking on the secret being out about Linhardt. The 6’7 forward is a space eating monster. He collects both in and out of area rebounds. Linhardt can also step out and stretch the floor. He may have the best fundamentals of any player in attendance. Barring injury, he’s going to be a high major prospect. For me it’s about figuring out where he fits in among the national class of 2022.
Tom Nash 6’5 SG Bellevue – Nash is raw. He has a ton of potential, however I haven’t quite pinned down his skill – set. Does a variety of things well. He rebounds, finishes around the rim, and can create offense for himself. I’m interested in seeing if he can stretch the floor, and what type of run and jump athlete he is.
Jake O’Hearn 6’1 PG Hazen – O’Hearn is a high IQ PG. Shoots it well, but what I really like is his floor game. He plays with good pace and finishes around the rim with both hands. Interested in seeing if he can get separation from defenders and if he can defend his position.
Rylan Foster 6’1 SG Hazen – Can’t wait to get my first live look at Foster! The rising sophomore was a well known middle school player. Good size and an advanced offensive game. He can shoot it, and his 1 on 1 skill level may be the best in the camp. I’ve heard about him for a while. I’m interested in the opportunity to evaluate him up close and personal.
Sten Rasmussen 6’5 SF Bellermine Prep – Ramussen is going to be fun to watch. Good overall offensive skill-set. He can score both inside, and outside. There are couple things, I’ll be looking at when it comes to evaluating him. What type of athlete is he and are we looking at a player that develops into a stretch 4 or more of a wing? The 2nd question will probably depend more on how many inches he adds to his 6’5 frame.
