6’4 Golden Akannam – Clayton
Very bouncy wing that showed off some very explosive athleticism. Ran the floor and attacked the basket on a mission Saturday and never seemed to run out of juice. He lives above the rim, hammering home numerous emphatic dunks. Showed off some range as well by burying a pull-up transition three towards the end of the day.
6’0 Levi Banks – Pattonville
Levi showed promise for Pattonville with a handful of big games last season and looks to be ready to take a step forward this year. If their was a hustle award, he would have been in the running for it Saturday. He can really go and was beating the defense down the floor for buckets consistently whether it be leaking out for deep passes or zooming by with the ball.
6’0 Wunya Brown – St. Mary’s
Wunya was a walking bucket Saturday. Shot it well from deep and was making ridiculous contested jumpers with regularity that left defenders with nothing to do but shake their heads in astonishment. Strong to the rack and can finish in a variety of ways. Proved to also be a willing distributor and dug his heels in defensively. He is a bonafide play-maker that oozes confidence.
5’11 Kyle Conkright – Ellington
Conkright had a very nice day on Saturday. Very skilled, heads up player who more than held his own against some stiff competition. He is at his best as a catch and shoot marksmen with a pretty-stroke and nice range, but showed off improved ability to put the ball on the floor and attack the basket looking to score it. He is not afraid to get physical on either end of the floor.
6’1 Willie Davis III – Cardinal Ritter
Super bouncy, aggressive wing that slashes with purpose. Had some crafty finishes at the cup and finished well with contact. He certainly has the ability to stretch out beyond the arc but impressed Saturday with the mid-range game. He knocked down several 15 footers. Did a nice job of creating separation off the dribble and elevating for quality looks. Rebounds very well for a guard.
6’5 Gabe Ducey – Vianney
Carved out a nice role for Vianney last season and will look to expand on that heading into his junior campaign. Nice frame and wingspan project well and allow him to have some positional versatility. Smart player, moves well without the ball and makes quality reads. Good looking stroke from the perimeter.
6’4 Cole Farrell – Hazelwood Central
Big time stock-riser who has improved pretty much every time I have seen him the last several months. He is tremendous in the open floor and is developing a reputation for putting defenders on posters. Saturday was no different and he produced plenty of punishment to the rims at Center St. Louis. Good length at 6’4 and a nice combination of strength and athleticism that make him a tough match-up.
5’9 Preston Fortner – Francis Howell
May have been the one player at the Top 250 Expo that I had not seen yet that caught my eye the most. Ultra-quick and electric with the ball. He keeps it on a string like a yo-yo and makes his moves off the bounce with intent. Very crafty in the pick and roll, does a nice job of staying slippery and splitting defenders. His pull-up jumper from the elbow is on a dime and automatic and his range extends comfortably out to three.
6’6 Aaron Hendricks – MICDS
Big, physical body with plus athleticism. His back to the basket game continues to progress, but he still does a nice job making his money finishing dump-offs above the rim and cleaning up on the offensive glass. He rebounded well on both ends Saturday and made his presence felt on the defensive end. Not only on the boards and blocking shots, he was opportunistic and snatched several steals.
