Here were my top juniors I viewed:
Ricardo Sarmiento PG 5’11 Chavez
-Top performer of the day earned the MVP from the prep hoops staff. He controlled every game he played from scoring the ball from deep, driving to the cup with either hand and making plays for his teammates. He also defended every best player on each team and communicated like a coach on the court.
Owen Shaw PF 6’6 Arcadia
-Bouncy face-up forward has a consistent 3pt stroke. Can put the ball on the floor and flush it down on the break. He can create his own offense but is best off the catch. He rebounds well in his area and gets out on the break quickly. He can defend either forward position.
Jason Kimbrough Jr PG 6’0 Mountain Pointe
-Good on-ball defender, shooter and can distribute the ball. Has a nice pull-up off the dribble and has good open court speed. He started a little slow but finished strong.
Zereoue Williams C 6’7 Mountain Pointe
-Big man gobbled up all rebounds like always and blocked multiple shots every outing. He scored it deep in the post and is one of the strongest players in the class with a football frame/build.
Derick Kaps PG 6’0 Highland
-Super athletic lead guard with a tight handle. He is a very good on-ball defender and gets to the rim. He will need to become more consistent from the perimeter but he competes on every possession and plays the game hard.
Shay Cain SF 6’3 Desert Edge
-A unique prospect who can defend all 5 HS positions and is a true point forward. He has great length, court vision and defensive instincts. He sometimes over passes and should attempt more shots. He will need to start developing more of a perimeter game moving forward.
Jake Schleifer PF 6’6 Trivium Prep
-One of the talented brand new prospects that was at the camp. He has a good build and plays a physical brand of ball. He can shoot it to the 3pt line and rebounds well in his area.
Samuel Yeager SG 6’3 Prescott
-Fairly athletic guard that is skilled. He shows a high IQ for the game and seems to always make the correct play. He can score it from the perimeter with range and drive the lane. He should have a breakout year for the Badgers.
Myles Hersha C 6’8 Salpointe Catholic
-Big rebounder who scores it in the paint. He stays inside to challenge shots at the rim and moves well to cover a lot of ground on defense. He can improve his face-up offense but has a lot to like moving forward.
Keiren Carr SG 5’11 Arcadia
-Long and lean scoring guard. Has a good first step and takes long strides to get in the lane. He has good body control and makes smart passes to teammates.
Braeden Roberts CG 6’0 North Valley Christian Academy
-A physical downhill guard who can defend either position. He likes to get contact and score it in the paint. He can improve his shooting but plays hard and he is a tough.
Tampa Scott PG 5’9 Gilbert
-Quick ball handler and on-ball defender. He has a nice speed in the open court and not afraid to mix it up inside. Will post up guards even though he isn’t that big. A fearless competitor on both ends of the court.
Jimari Grayson PG 5’11 Apache Junction
-Downhill true PG. Tries making others better and will score it through contact. A good on-ball defender and an aggressive and tough player.
Eric Holsey CG 6’2 Skyline
-Very shifty ball handler is a very good passer. He drives the lane well but could improve his perimeter shooting moving forward.
Shooters:
Riley Fornerette PG 5’9 Dysart -Handles the ball well and makes others better but he is really a very good deep shooter.
Brady Ramon SF 6’0 Salpointe Catholic-Thick forward is all business. He has a no nonsense approach to the game and can really sling it from mid to the 3pt line. Strong player.
Cesar Ruiz SF 6’2 Westview-May have been the most consistent shooter at the camp outside of a few players. He is another strong player with a clip.
Gunner Wooden SG 5’11 Deer Valley-Finesse guard has a pretty looking stroke from the perimeter.
Michael Harris SG 6’1 Westview-Volume shooter but once he gets rolling he rattles off shot after shot. Had probably the highest arc on his jumper from the camp.
Michael McGehee SF 6’3 Agua Fria-Not known as a shooter but he has obviously put some work in to extend his range and get it more consistent. He shot the ball well and is a tough physical player with a great motor.
