The Texas GASO Fall Classic provided that opportunity this past weekend for Houston and surrounding area high school teams. Let’s take a look at how some of the 2021 prospects performed
JaDyn Chaney
6’0 Point Guard – Westfield High School
Class Of 2021
#4EverYoungFilms Lil brodie @TmJayo back at it. Played through an injury today and still played well. JaDyn Chaney, 6'0 PG, Westfield HS class of 2021 #TexasTakeoverElite@TxTakeover_Ned

JaDyn has proven to be a true point guard with a bit of flare, or “sauce” as the kids call it. This weekend he battled through a groin injury and still played well. In doing so, he showed his mental and physical toughness as most people couldn’t tell the difference. He dictated the pace of the game well, kept pressure on opposing defenses, finished well around the rim and found his teammates in favorable positions to score. Defensively, JaDyn has always been good in the passing lane, but this weekend he showed improvement guarding the ball on the perimeter.
KJ Adams
6’6 Forward – Austin Westlake High School
Class Of 2021
At a certain point, hype ceases to be hype and just becomes the truth. KJ Adams is certainly more truth than hype and he proved it again this weekend. This kid is a “man-child” that is extremely strong, long and athletic. However, his game has just enough finesse for him to play on the perimeter. Long ball? Check! Pump fake, dribble, mid-range shot? Check! Block shots? Check! Dunk on anyone around the rim? Check! This kid absolutely checks all the boxes so it’s understandable why he is a highly sought after prospect.
Jakoby Flores
5’9 Point Guard – St Thomas Episcopal High School
Class Of 2021
#4EverYoungFilms This kid can absolutely shoot the ball! Jakoby Flores @Kobo1523 5'9 PG | St Thomas Episcopal HS c/o 2021 @STE_Saints. Crafty with the ball, excellent shooter, good vision.@RcsSports @defenders16U @OTRExposure @djones8301 @Extraeyesmedia @BSH_scouting pic.twitter.com/NdRu6vLU4F

Jakoby is a dead eye shooter that also has all of the other attributes to be a great point guard. His shooting ability opens up the entire floor which gives his team plenty of room to operate. At the GASO Fall Classic, Jakoby displayed incredible quickness, the ability to make plays in the paint and great vision. All of which, just complemented his great shooting ability. At times, he shot the ball from deep with such little effort that it was difficult to comprehend how far he was shooting from.
Thirhrey Smiley
6’5 Forward – Klein High School
Class Of 2021
When Thirhrey takes the court, 9 times out of 10 he is the most explosive and athletic player on the court. This weekend his athleticism and long arms allowed him to be a force to be reckoned with on the defensive end and on the boards. It is apparent that he has been in the gym getting up shots because this weekend he stretched the floor effectively. In the two games played, he had three and four three pointers made respectively.
Arric Jones
6’4 Guard / Forward – Humble High School
Class Of 2021
Due to the structure of his team this weekend, Jones played in the post. However, it is apparent that he has a guard skill set. So the fact that he played post and was able to defend the position and be effective offensively, only makes him a better prospect. Jones plays with a high motor and makes a ton of effort plays. He has a fluid jump shot and uses his athleticism well to get to the bucket. Defensively, he is strong enough to defend in the paint, yet agile enough to defend on the perimeter. All of this was on display this weekend which made him a player that stood out amongst a bunch of really talented guys.
Marion Williams
6’0 Guard – Klein Forest High School
Class Of 2021
Depending on how aggressive he is, I wouldn’t be surprised if Marion averaged around 20 points a game this upcoming season. This weekend, he showed that he is definitely a capable scorer. However, he also passed the ball extremely effectively, which at times, hindered his scoring. But the team’s score is what matters right? Regardless, Williams passed the ball well, moved well without the ball and was effective with the ball in his hands as well.
Dylan Mackey
6’0 Point Guard – Aldine Davis High School
Class Of 2021
I’ll admit, I am normally confused as to how to categorize Dylan. This weekend was no different. He picked his spots to score, and scored in bunches. So, he’s a scoring point guard right? Well, then he would come down and have four or five spectacular passes. So he’s more of a true point guard right? Let’s just say this kid is a hell of a player and he played like it at the GASO Fall Classic. He dictated tempo, got his guys in spots to be successful, got into the paint at will and played solid defense.
Braedon Edison
6’3 Guard / Forward – Cinco Ranch High School
Class Of 2021
By the next time I see Braedon play, I will probably need to drop the “/ Forward” when describing his position. He has a great skill set to be a guard and he proved this weekend he is expanding this skill set. He controlled the offense and showed the patience needed to let plays develop. From there he made good decisions. Still, his ability to post up and create great looks can’t be ignored. There was a number of times in which no play was called. And if it was, the name of the play was “get it to Braedon in the post and get out the way.”
Tyler Thomas
5’9 Point Guard – St Thomas Episcopal High School
Class Of 2021
#4EverYoungFilms presents Tyler Thomas at the GASO Fall Classic. 5'9 PG | Episcopal HS class of 2021. Smart kid that can do whatever is required of him at his position. Relentless defender. Good vision. Good passer. Can score in multiple ways @gofusego @KartaKarta @RcsSports pic.twitter.com/UNIC3b2nUj

Tyler is ALWAYS a fan favorite. He is extremely likeable and a great team guy. All fluff aside, Tyler is a good prospect as a point guard. He is able to do anything that is asked from him. For instance, this weekend he was absolutely a “dawg” on defense. Due to his incredible lateral movement, he keeps opposing guards in front of him and his quick hands creates turnovers. Offensively, Tyler can shooting from the outside at a high clip, his mid range is efficient, he finishes at the rim and has great vision.
