Summer Roundup: Wings on the Rise (2021)
Prep Hoops takes a look at several of the state’s top performers throughout the spring and summer.
30-Tykeem Hobson, 6’4, G/F, 2021, Wichita West, Perry Ellis Elite 16U
Hobson is a physical player with great strength and a lot of grit. He is a quick player and looked strong against post players who had size and weight on him. He looked strong as a rebounder and he was unstoppable at times on both ends of the floor. He also had some smart put back plays and scored in transition around the rim.
10 — Kyun Jackson, 6’3, G, 2021, Sumner, Showtime 16U
Jackson showed why he is a tough match-up for opponents as he does a bit of everything. He has good size for a guard and likes to take advantage of mismatches by taking smaller guards to the post. He has some good moves in the paint and has a nice feel for scoring around the basket. Jackson is a good passer with good court vision and can see over the top of a defense and make the right pass.
20-Trevion Alexander, 6’3, G/F, Topeka, Kansas Hoggs 16U
Alexander continues to look sharp down low as he uses his frame for spacing and speed for separation. He is a smart defender and is good at picking off passes and finishing around the rim. He has good handles for his designated position and shows bounce and quickness when making plays for himself.
31-Taner Hecht, 6’4, G/F, 2021, Wamego, SSA Elite White 16U
A nice defensive presence down low when his fellow post players are out wide and he has to man the block for himself. He’s a fluid player with the ability to put the ball on the floor and get a bucket or two. He has a great free throw shot and was impressive as a clean-up player in transition as he was great as an offensive rebounder.
5 — Carter Lichtsinn, 6’3, G/F, 2021, Olathe East. Team KC Black
Lichtghiann is an inside-out forward who works hard on the baseline and in the lane defensively and on the boards. He showed the ability to finish around the basket for Team KC but can also step out and handle the ball a little on the perimeter and knock down mid-range shots. He runs the floor well in transition and can finish plays on the run.
