Prep Hoops takes a look at several of the state’s top performers throughout the spring and summer.
00 — Andrew Orr, F/C, 2021, MoKan 2021
Known for his inside play, Orr showed off some skills on Saturday in MoKan’s first contest against the Colorado Chaos, putting the ball on the floor and attacking the basket several times and getting to the free throw line. He often had his way in the post against the smaller Chaos squad and at 6’8, he uses his size well, showing good footwork and a soft touch in the lane.
20 — Jackson Lewis, 6’7, G, 2021, Shawnee Mission South, MoKan 2021
A player who doesn’t necessarily need to score a bunch of points to make an impact. Lewis is a strong, physical player inside who carries himself well and can make some plays around the basket. He runs the floor well and can rebound and defend the paint well.
11 — Miles Branch, 6’7, F, 2021, Bishop Seabury, KC Run GMC
Branch is a big, physical forward with good size at 6’7, 205-pounds. He can overpower opposing players in the lane, post up on the block, or can also step out and face the basket. Branch showed the ability to shoot from the outside, is a good passer and runs the floor exceptionally well for a big man.
40 — Charles Snyder, 6’4, F, 2021, Emporia, SSA Elite Black 16U
One of the state’s top forwards in the 2021 class, Snyder has a nice post-up game and plays much bigger than his listed 6’4 height would suggest. He can also step out and shoot the 3 or even put it on the floor a little. Snyder is a tough, aggressive player who doesn’t back down from big match-ups.
9 — Will Townsend, 6’6, F, 2021, Shawnee Mission East. Team KC Black
A forward on the rise who is poised for a breakout junior year. He is a highly active player who hustles on the floor and puts everything he has into the game. He can attack the paint and is strong around the rim. He shots a mid-range game and is an underrated passer and rebounder.
