Prep Hoops takes a look at several of the state’s top performers throughout the spring and summer.
12-Ian Comer, 6’1, G, 2022, Mulvane, Attack
A spot-up shooter who can play the scoring guard or fill out the wing. He doesn’t handle the ball much but he contribute whenever he’s on the floor. He can find his rhythm from deep and plays well with his team. He plays up on the post and doesn’t complain when he’s forced to defend a taller, seasoned forward.
15-Carson Brading, 5’10, G, 2021, Topeka, Kansas Hoggs
Brading is a solid shooter and ball handler. He can create his own shot and is good at creating wide open looks for others as well. He has the speed needed to play up-and-down ball and can light things up from behind the line.
3-Trey Abasolo, 6’0, 2021, Mulvane, Attack
Abasolo is a good ball handler and a smooth player overall. He values the midrange area and can connect on shots left and right. He hustles on defense and looks to push the tempo and get the ball in the hands of a transition threat. He dives after the ball and sacrifices himself for the team.
33 — Trey Rolfs, 6’1, G, 2021, Little River, Kansas Kings
A nice guard off the ball who stays on the move and can come up big with floaters and transition plays. He has good length and knows how to get shots off close to the basket. He attacks with his dribble but is also a good team player and thoughtful with his dribble.
20-Shane Orender, 5’9, G, 2021, Osage City, SSA Elite White 16U
A fine defensive player who got physical with defenders up top and worked his way inside. Orender played hard and ran the floor and got open looks through transition and as a pull up shooter up top. He played well off the ball and showed movement and poise in crunch time.
