Great shooters are often called pure shooters because they have a smooth, free-flowing shot. A player becomes a great shooter by finding the perfect balance of mental strength and proper form. The integration of mental and mechanical aspects of shooting fosters shooting success.
This summer I had a chance to watch players across the state of Georgia compete in a Three-Point Contest at KB Sports All-Star Weekend in Lithonia, Georgia. Participants battled for the title of best three-point shooter. After several rounds of players showcasing their shooting abilities, the following players proved to be the best sharpshooters on the hardwood.
Reniko Davis, 2021, 5’10, junior at Eastside High School. Davis a point guard that doesn’t have a problem sinking the three ball. He’s a long-distance shooter that has worked hard to be able to shoot beyond the arc. “I practice a lot. I’m a good shooter because of my father. I try to work on my shooting everyday,” said Davis.
Gabe Selagea, 2021, 6’2, junior at Oak Hill High School. Selagea is a player that isn’t only valuable playing close to the basket, he can execute a three-point shot with the ease of a guard. He credits his coaches for helping craft his sharp shooting skills. “My coaches trained me to become a better shooter,” said Selagea.
Tyquan Davis, 2021, 5’10, junior at West Laurence High School. Davis is a prolific long-distance shooter. He shoots the three ball effortlessly. While most players are sleeping in, he’s constantly working on his game. I workout everyday. During the school year I workout in the morning before school. I use a basketball shooting machine to help with my shot,” said Davis.
