202 high school prospects (2020-2023) competed at a high level at Daytona Mainland where 20 plus college coaches, 15 plus media companies and a plethora of parents and family taking in the action.
We will have coverage all week long about the event.
Here is a look at the first part of the top upperclassmen standouts from the 2020 and 2021 classes.
Jayven Millien (Sarasota Riverview)
Perhaps the best performer among all the players on hand, 2021 Sarasota Riverview 6’7″ forward Jayven Millien absolutely balled out in Daytona. He was taking the brunt of the load as an elusive attacker, moving the ball up the floor like a guard and hitting from a deep at a high clip. With one Division I offer currently from FGCU, you can see Millien’s confidence growing two-fold and I fully expect him to have a banner junior season to boost his recruitment even further.
Alex Fudge (Lee)
I don’t think there was a player having more fun during games or during breaks than 2021 Jacksonville Lee 6’8″ forward Alex Fudge. Coaches and players were constantly talking to me about his jumping ability and all-around active style of play. Fudge was routinely getting up and down the floor with ease and finishing with dunks. His mid-range game and ballhandling are very reliable as well. With offers from Wake Forest, Iowa State, USF and TCU, the upside for Fudge is endless.
Jordin Jackson (Impact Christian)
A 3-year Top 250 Expo attendee, the progress that 2020 5’10” Impact Christian guard Jordin Jackson has made since the beginning of the summer has been impressive. A speedy, crafty and determined attacker, he shined bright going to the basket and heading to the rim. Jackson is a super shifty guard who has good vision and uses his timely passes to his advantage. He deserves attention from Division II and NAIA programs immediately.
AJ Neal (West Oaks)
Passing is something that 2021 6’1″ West Oaks guard AJ Neal makes look rather easy. He is a sound outside touch shooter, but on Sunday it was his passing that stood out to me over and over again. Neal caught defenders off balance and changed the pace in set play and in transition. With 20 plus Division I offers (FSU, Georgetown, USF and Kansas State included), he is heating up at the right time. His IQ is right up there with some of the top guards in the state for any age group.
Zachary Anderson (Apopka)
A verbal FGCU commit, 2020 6’7″ Apopka guard/forward Zachary Anderson is still looking to compete against the top kids even with the season months away and his college plans squared away. The long and weavy player was hard to stop inside with his smart takes and he seemed to be up the floor before everyone else on the other end, dunking and adding lay-ins often. Anderson needs to get stronger, but his scoring ability and IQ are seasoned assets.
