Continue ReadingAtlanta, Georgia – Georgia’s class A private defending state champions, Saint Francis, will be headed to one of the nation’s top high school tournaments in December, the 2019 Beach Ball Classic. The Beach Ball Classic is held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and this year’s field is loaded with some of the country’s top high school programs. Other out of state schools include Long Island Lutheran (NY), Morgan Park (IL), Whitney Young (IL), Harvard Westlake (CA), and others. South Carolina’s own Dorman High School will also compete in this year’s event.
Head coach Drew Catlett holds a 80-14 overall record with the Knights since 2017, including an elite eight appearance and two private A state championship appearances. This year’s squad should be the favorites once again to win Georgia’s private A class and with senior Xavier commit 2020 PG Dwon Odom returning and along with a few other players from last year’s championship team. Competing in this national event will give the Knights some major experience against top notched competition and should assists them in the long run if they want to be crowned state champions again in Macon, Georgia next March.
