Recruiting Report: Trey Robinson (2020)
As summer comes to an end, and we get into the fall it’s always a good time to look at seniors. And, more so where they will end up.
Trey Robinson of Hamilton is one of the more sought after prospects in Southern Ohio. The senior holds double-digit offers, mostly from division one programs.
The future mid-major released a top three of Toledo, Duquesne and Northern Kentucky in Mid-August. In which, any of these schools would be a great fit for the 6-7 wing.
Over the weekend Robinson took a visit to Northern Kentucky. He came away impressed, saying “the visit was great, I really connected with the players and coaches. It honestly feels like a big family I really liked that”.
Northern Kentucky loves grabbing players from Ohio. It could be a good fit for the lengthy Robinson who said “i’m definitely looking for a family environment, and a strong relationship with coaches and players”.
Despite dropping a top three, the Hamilton senior told us “there’s schools that I didn’t have in my top three that are new and contacting, but we’ll see how that goes with the rest of September not to sure though”. As he’s not sure if another school will jump into his top three.
A commitment could be looming, but also could take some time. “I was really hoping to just commit before the season, so I can just be all in on getting myself and my team better, so really at the end of this month. But, it could honestly be earlier or later, so we’ll see how my other visits go. I’m scheduled to go to Duquesne this coming Thursday, and Toledo the following week on Wednesday.”
Duquesne and Toledo will both get their chance very soon to earn a verbal commitment from the senior wing.
Trey’s game translates big time to the college level and “position-less” basketball many teams are trending toward. At 6-7 he can handle it a bit, score inside or from the perimeter.
Having big plans for his senior season, Trey said “I really think this season can be big for me, really pushing for that GMC Player Of The Year. Overall, I want to go out strong for my senior season.”
The Hamilton student has a well rounded game but stated “I can improve my shot more but, it’s definitely came a long way from when I really was struggling last season, to now where I’m becoming a lot more consistent.”
It will be interesting to see where the in-state mid major prospect ends up.
