This March when Southmoore High School was having success Coach Tim Stogsdill talked about Thompson to the local Norman paper in a way that I feel needs to be highlighted once again. Few know a player like their high school coach does and Stogsdill painted a fantastic picture for Norman Transcript readers.
“(Jordan) studies film, he watches his mistakes,” Stogsdill said to the paper. “He’s a gym rat. He loves it. He’s got a real high basketball IQ. I look forward to having him back another year.”
Thompson scored 22 points a game with six assists a contest as a high school junior and then earned All Grind Region honors on the Prep Hoops Circuit for Team Buddy Buckets.
“The games from this spring made me more mature, and I feel like the game has slowed down for me a lot,” said Thompson. “The 17u year has helped me grow up off the court, and made me realize I need to put more work in.
“Playing Team Griffin 16s in front of Buddy (Hield) was such a highlight, and just driving to games with the team getting to know my teammates more was a great experience.”
Thompson is currently focused on two college programs at the moment.
“East Central and Oklahoma Baptist talk to me the most,” Jordan said earlier in the month. “I have an official visit Thursday with East Central, and an official with Oklahoma Baptist on the 28th of this month.”
Meanwhile, Thompson continues to work daily to become the talented player most feel he will be.
“My focus is just getting stronger in the weight room, the team expectations are to win state.”
