The 6’3 guard was turning heads all day with his ability to score around the rim and he mentioned it was something he was working on and that definitely showed on Saturday.
“My jump shot was not hitting the first game so I said let me just do what I am good at and get to the rim and try to dunk everything.”
Folkes was really looking forward to this camp to show that he can play with some of the best from the DMV, “I am just trying to get exposure against some of the best players in the DMV and just show that I can play basketball.”
When asked to describe his game when he is at his best, he said, “I am kind of like a playmaker, I can get to the basket, I can shoot open jump shots and I like to facilitate to my teammates and I think I can play really good defense.”
Folkes his coming off a good summer where he saw himself land his first five offers,
“My summer went well, ever since I made the transfer over to Middleburg I picked up five offers from Radford, ODU, Youngstown State, Norfolk State and Stetson so it was a very successful summer, I worked and played hard.”
He broke down a few of those schools for us.
Radford: “Radford seems amazing, I love the coaching staff, the bond with the team and it seems like a great campus, it seems like a really good environment.”
Norfolk State: “I went there, went to their camp and after one of their camps they said I have a scholarship.”
ODU: “I picked up an offer from them after playing at one of the live periods at Blue Ridge. Coach Stith, who is an assistant there seems like a great coach and I like his personality and I like how he fits with ODU.”
Youngstown State: “I first met them after they came to a workout at Middleburg and then they wanted me to get on campus for their elite camp and then offered me after the camp. They said they are going to be recruiting me really hard.”
