Jahki Henderson (2021) 6’5 River Valley
Such a physical rebounder, what impressed me most about Henderson was his ability to go after boards with two hands. Lots of guys will try to tip to themselves or grab one handed, yet Henderson was physical and grabbed the ball. Agile and able to get to either blocks, Henderson caught my attention with his work ethic and ability to defend the post and rebound on both ends of the floor.
Malik Kennedy (2021) 6’3 Lutheran East
While he was not the tallest player on the floor, Kennedy has a motor and athleticism to grab boards. Quick and willing to move all over the floor, he has a high basketball IQ and was able to find gaps and crashed the glass hard. While not at the level as some of his Lutheran East teammates, Kennedy’s motor should allow him opportunities to get some minutes at the varsity level.
David Gentry (2021) 6’4 Hudson
Gentry has some length at 6’4 and played well as a post defender. In terms of his ability to rebound the ball, David was tremendous. A physical athlete, he works hard on the block and rebounds with a purpose. I am interested to see what he does with Hudson this upcoming season as he played quite well Saturday.
London Maiden (2022) 6’6 Benedictine
One of the newer names on display, Maiden was extremely impressive to watch as he was a force to compete against on the offensive glass. Lengthy and willing to fight in the paint, London picked up 4 offensive rebounds in one half of play on Saturday and overall was too much for anyone to successfully defend. Still a little raw on the offensive end, Maiden has potential to be a high level player if he continues to grow and will be a name to watch in Northeast Ohio.
Demari Martin (2021) 6’5 Winton Woods
Martin definitely showed off his athleticism Saturday as he used all of his 6’5 frame to be a force on the glass. A slashing wing, Martin was another force to watch on the glass and appeared in the same game London Maiden played in. Both guys competed against one another with Martin picking up some second chance points as a result. He made his impact known on the offensive end and should continue to impress colleges as he continues to develop.
