Play With Purpose is a program that has a two-fold objective, by helping raise money for orphans and at-risk children locally and worldwide. It develops selfless attitudes within young athletes that call them to sacrifice and think past the moment at hand and use their gifts and devotion to make a difference. So all the money that was made from the door and from team registration went to support children in need. for more info on PWP visit playwithpurposesports.org Here are my takeaways from the event.
Jaylon Edwards 5’10 PG • 2020 • Cypress Park HS
Attacked the lane with aggression and blew by opponents. Finished at a high rate around the rim. Was solid on the defensive side of the ball as well.
Anthony Ferguson Jr 6’4 SG • 2021 • Cypress Park HS
Continues to impress me with his play. As he is starting to play more comfortably above the rim. He scored in bunches from all over the floor. He also played really solid on the ball.
Jason Johnson 6’0 PG • 2021 • St. Pius X HS
Head strong point. Got his teammates involved in the game. Attacked the rim and penetrated the zone. Finished at a high rate around the rim. Scrappy on-ball defender.
Pierce Spencer 6’2 SG • 2020 • Lake Creek HS [Nicholls State] PHTX150
Didn’t look to bad despite the fact that in his first game they wore him out as teams doubled and tripled team him when he had the ball. They even box-1 him in the half court set. He was able to score the ball off the bounce and get to the rim.
Westley Sellers 6’0 G • 2020 • Katy Morton Ranch HS PHTX150
This prospect has a great motor and gets after it on the floor. He is a defensive perimeter specialist. He has never had a problem being left on a defensive island.
Adrian Caldwell 6’4 SF • 2020 • Katy Morton Ranch HS PHTX150
The bouncy wing with the strength of a power forward caught a couple of nasty alleys. He also was ripping the ball out of his opponents hands with ease. He is a tremendous rebounder as well.
