Prospect Spotlight: Logan Vican (2020)
2020 forward Logan Vican has seen a spike in his recruitment after a strong season at Broadneck that included advancing to the Class 4A State title game. At 6-foot-9, he offers size and some offensive versatility that are intriguing to many college programs of all levels.
I caught up with Vican at our Top 250 Expo last weekend, where he put together an afternoon of solid work and productivity. We discussed his spring/summer, expectations for the 2019-20 season and his recruitment.
PH: How was your spring and summer with Maryland 3D?
LV: It was good. We played really hard. We played at a higher level this year and it felt good seeing what it was like.
PH: What did you feel like was the biggest improvement in your game?
LV: Over that time period, I feel like I got a lot better at catching and shooting it. Not being hesitant. I’ve been working really hard on trying to gain weight and stay in the weight room.
PH: You guys had a big season last year at Broadneck. What’s the team looking like for this season?
LV: We lost a couple of guys, but we got a couple of guys. We have a good underclass who’ve been working hard. We’ve been working hard in the weight room and getting in the gym on weekends. I think we should be pretty good. Just as good, if not better than last year.
PH: What are some expectations for the team this season?
LV: I think after what happened last year in the county championship, we’re really hungry to get that win. And then to see if we can go on another run in the playoffs, which I expect us to do.
PH: Any individual goals you’re setting for yourself this season?
LV: Just staying in the weight room and getting stronger.
PH: What schools have been talking to you?
LV: A lot of Division III schools. A few Division II schools here and there. American, Mount St. Mary’s and Navy as well.
