A 5’8 point guard, Ray is a pass first player who takes pride in being a team player and helping his teammates succeed.
He says he spent much of the offseason working on becoming a better defensive player and improving his outside shot and says the experience of playing with the Grind helped his game grow.
“The Kansas Grind has helped a lot on my game,” he says. “From what I’ve been learning from coach Jay over the summer, my defense will step up this upcoming high school season.”
Ray says he brings a winning attitude to Newton and says his uncle has had the biggest influence on his basketball career to date.
“My uncle Chase has been there since day 1 and has always pushed me ever since,” Ray says.
A fan of Trae Young and Patrick Beverly, Ray says he enjoys different aspects of both player’s game.
“I like how Trae runs the floor and gets his teammates involved a lot,” Ray said. “We all know Pat Bev got clamps on Defense so I watch a lot of his defensive highlights.”
