The next in line to be the Black Raiders’ star performer, Dunson is not only the league’s leading returning scorer, but all of 4A’s leading returnee. A long, athletic 6-3 wing, Dunson is capable of filling it up from all three levels and he should have a huge year for the best program out west.
First Team
2020 Jaleque Dunson, Sioux City East (15.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.4 steals, 53 3PM)
The league’s leading returning scorer, for what should again be the league’s best team, Dunson will get a lot thrown at him this year, but he’s talented enough to produce regardless. He finished second on the team in assists last year in addition to his scoring.
2020 Daniel Wright, Sergeant Bluff-Luton (15.1 points, 9.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 55.2 FG%)
Also a standout quarterback, the 6-8 forward does a little bit of everything for the Warriors. He ranked second on the team in scoring and assists last year, while leading them in rebounding and blocks. A versatile threat capable of stretching out to the arc, Wright should have a huge year for an SB-L team that will push East at the top of the league.
2020 Quran Owens, Council Bluffs Jefferson (15.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.6 steals, 1.1 blocks)
The Yellow Jackets won just two games last year, and each win came against a 2A school. But Owens was productive, leading the team in scoring and rebounding, while posting much better efficiency numbers than the rest of his teammates.
2020 Nate Reed, Sioux City North (15.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 53.3 FG%)
The 6-2 forward should see his scoring numbers increase again this year following the graduation of three double figure scorers.
2021 Spencer Mackey, LeMars (15.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 56 3PM, 43.8 3P%)
A 6-0 junior guard, Mackey and his Bulldogs are making the move over from the Lakes Conference this year. A knockdown shooter, he should thrive in the up-tempo style that many MRAC teams like to play.
