The Warriors look like they should be the best team in the division again this year, and the 5-10 point guard is a big reason why. He’s the league’s leading returnee in assists and steals, and he should see his scoring skyrocket following the graduation of Tate Bear, who averaged just under 22 points a game.
First Team
2021 Taurice Grant, Meskwaki Settlement (11.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 2.8 steals)
A dynamic two-way player who excels at getting his teammates involved, Grant will be asked to take on more of a scoring role this season for the Warriors following the graduation of Tate Bear. The quick guard should be able to get into the paint for buckets all winter in this league.
2020 Brett Livesay, Collins-Maxwell (14.9 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.0 steals, 1.3 blocks)
The Spartans won just five games last year, but Livesay was a bright spot, as the only player in the division to average a double-double. With their top six scorers back, they should be improved.
2020 Ryan McLean, North Tama (12.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.0 steals)
The 6-3 post player’s 7.1 rebounds a game rank third among returnees in the league, and his 12.4 points a game rank in a tie for second.
2020 Cole Damman, Baxter (12.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.3 steals)
Also a standout quarterback on the gridiron, Damman is the league’s second leading returning scorer. He also ranks second among returnees in assists. With Will Clapper and his 18.2 points a game graduated, look for Damman to become the go-to scorer for Baxter.
2020 Francis Bower, Colo-Nesco (11.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists)
Bower led the Royals in scoring and rebounding last year. They won just three games, but he was excellent in those wins, averaging 17.7 points and 8.3 rebounds.
Second Team
2020 Emmett Roberts, Meskwaki Settlement
2021 Mason Markley, Collins-Maxwell
2020 John Kasper, Collins-Maxwell
2020 Carter Nelsen, Baxter
2021 Avery Bryant, GMG
