We already gave you a glimpse into some of the top performers earlier in the week. Now we do a deep dive into the evaluations of prospects in the class of 2020. Here is PrepHoops Top 250: Scotty B’s 2020 Evaluation Part 2!
Will Wolfe (Oswego East – 2020)
Wolfe is a tough and gritty wing that ranks as a top 20 player in his class and to be honest one of the more under recruited players in the state. This kid just produces! Finishes well inside on aggressive drives, plays well as a finisher in transition, and is a sound jump shooter. No doubt low-major talent!
Taurean Holtam (Rock Island – 2020)
Holtam stands at 6’5” with broad shoulders and a strong frame. He showed during the summer he can put the ball in the hoop at a high level. The Rock Island senior is at his best when he gets downhill squaring his shoulders to the hoop whether it is in the half court or in transition. Powerful with a head of steam behind him. Converted a couple nifty finishes around the rim.
Zach Miller (Hyde Park – 2020)
Miller is a 6’2” combo guard with nice length. I really liked how much confidence he played with throughout the game we saw. He had a super aggressive take that he finished with a difficult left handed layup. Also drained a deep three. Kid is primed for a big year with Hyde Park in the Chicago Public League.
CJ Nwosu (Von Steuben – 2020)
Big fan of this senior 6’4” shooting guard. He is a plus athlete that plays with a high motor and produces at a consistent clip. Nwosu is outstanding in transition as a wing finisher. Also is quick to the offensive glass for second chance points.
Joel Williams (Mooseheart – 2020)
Williams is a prospect that jumped on our radar during the summer and he had a nice day at Romeoville. Lengthy guard that is an impact guy on the defensive end when he locks in with his ability to get in his man and is a dynamic finisher in transition playing in the open floor.
Joshua Ivory (Peoria Manual – 2020)
Ivory is a big bodied five man that is built like an offensive tackle. Plays physical around the hoop rebounding and using his size to position himself to be effective.
Rron Thaci (Jones – 2020)
The Jones senior forward is an interesting under the radar prospect that had a nice showing at Top 250. Tough kid who is a capable shooter and an underrated athlete.
Alex Yardley (Mattoon – 2020)
Yardley has size and strength on the interior. The Mattoon post had a sweet spin move in the paint which he finished for a layup. Like him as a developmental play.
Diego Durr (Romeoville – 2020)
Durr is a lead guard that put his name on our radar in his hometown. The 6’2” senior is a crisp ball handler that worked well around ball screens. Also a capable mid-range shooter.
Gabe Cox (Winchester – 2020)
At 6’0” this small school combo guard displayed a nice mid-range game. Smooth pull up jumper!
Caleb Kizer (Metamora – 2020)
The Metamora 6’6” post has great strength and plays with power around the hoop. Finished a couple nice dunks and overall used his mobility in the paint to be effective.
Brandon Keaton (Sandburg – 2020)
First look at this 6’7” post and he definitely made a name for himself. The senior has height and length to play at the next level. Upside player that lacks strength. Runs floor very well. Once he adds strength he should be able to finish better through contact in the paint. Worth monitoring as a senior for small colleges for sure.
