TASOS COOK 6’1″ OG (WESTERVILLE CENTRAL) – Tasos has a chance to be a productive D2 player or even better at a small college. While he is just a streaky 3PT shooter right now, he can drive it and is a decent athlete. In addition, he is a very good rebounding guard that can be an asset to any program. D2 put his name down to monitor over the next 12-15 months.
ROB THOMPSON 6’0″ PG (MIDDLETOWN) – Rob is another kid that played well at the Top 250 event. He is a good 3PT shooter and is athletic enough to be able to get to the basket, which forces defenders to play him straight up. He is strong and can really defend. Not sure what level right now, but LM-D2 need to check him out and see if he fits into their system. Looking forward to seeing him more this winter.
BENJAMIN KNOSTMAN 6’4″ G/F (TIPPECANOE) – Benjamin is a very interesting prospect that right now is as sleeper that has a chance to be a good D2 player. He is a good shooter from 3, Decent driver and is good in transition. The thing he needs to really improve on is 1) you need to have 1 thing that you are great at. Either be a big-time shooter or be someone that can score off the dribble at the rim and especially in the mid range. 2) He must become a better decision maker, which is why he needs to really focus on being really good at one of the things in #1. If you want to be really good off the dribble, you also must become someone when you drive it, you must be smart and make good decisions and be a really good passer when help comes your way.
CARSTON MAYES 6’6″ C/F (TOLEDO ST. FRANCIS) – Right now Carston is very raw, but is long and is a decent athlete. He can score a little in the post and is an ok rebounder. But the key to his development and if and where he plays at the college level either his ability to be a high energy guy who is a monster on the boards and a great rebounder and/or develop his skills to be an effective score away from the basket. He is 6’6 and long and you can’t teach that. Coaches, write his name down and keep an eye on him.
CARVER MYERS 6’4″ F (MORGAN HIGH) – Carver was someone that was ALWAYS around the ball and making plays. Right now he is not overly skilled, at least the times I saw him, but he plays hard and has a nose for the blla, which is something all teams need. He is good in transition, but did not see him enough in a half court setting to really see what he can be. However, anybody that sprint and gets out in transition like him and is around the ball all the time, if he does that and plays within himself, you can always find a place for him on a basketball team. Carver is the ultimate sleeper and someone that people should not overlook.
Those are some of my top sleepers in the 2021 class. Over the next couple days, I will be listing my top sleepers in the 2020 and 2022 class as well.
