That was definitely the case this past Sunday in Romeoville. Here is the latest with a few of the top uncommitted senior prospects in PrepHoops Top 250: 2020 Recruiting Notebook!
Ryan Isaacson (Hinsdale Central – 2020)
Isaacson is one of the best power forwards in the class with his ability to space the floor with his three point shooting. On his recruitment he told us “I took an official to Indianapolis. I have also taken unofficial visits to St. Cloud State and Hillsdale. I have visits coming up to Merrimack and watch a practice at Lewis. I have Truman State as well.” What stood out about Indianapolis? “I really liked Indy and really liked the culture they are building there and I would fit well.” He holds offers from Lewis, Truman State, Hillsdale, St Cloud State, Merrimack, and Indianapolis. What is his timeline for making a call? “I am not too sure right now. After I take a visit to every school that has offered me I will talk with my parents about it. I might make a decision early or play out the year.”
Caleb Kizer (Metamora – 2020)
Physical post Caleb Kizer made the trip up from Metamora and updated us on his recruitment saying, “I have been going to camps at Quincy and Columbia. I have been getting interest from NAIA and D3 schools like Millikin.”
Christian Shumate (Bloom – 2020)
Shumate is starting to create quite a buzz among college coaches who have been into Bloom open gyms as he is one of the premier athletes in the class. The 2020 forward told us the school that is hitting him up a lot is from out west. “Southern Utah has been talking to me a lot. My relationship with them is pretty good. They are probably the highest one right now. I am planning on visiting there soon.”
Jayson Kent (Oak Forest – 2020)
The Oak Forest 6’6” rangy two guard opened eyes this spring and summer as a sharp shooter from deep with projectability. Kent told us on his recruitment, “I have got Tulsa, Tulane, Valpo, and Northern Illinois. Northern Illinois was recently in to see me.” His offers are NIU, IUPUI, Chicago State, and Colombia. What schools is he really feeling right now? “A school that is making me feel like a priority right now is NIU because they are recruiting me the hardest. Everyone else is just watching me.”
Lance Mosley (DePaul Prep – 2020)
Mosley is an athletic two guard that can hit an open three and play both ends of the floor. On his recruitment he told PHI, “I am talking to Culver Stockton, Judson, Elmhurst, and a little interest from Lewis. I have visited Elmhurst and am visiting Judson this upcoming Saturday.”
Paul Zilinskas (Riverside Brookfield – 2020)
The RB wing has a skilled game where he shoots it well from three and has really improved his strength and athleticism over the last year. When it comes to the next level he told us, “I took a visit to Illinois Springfield and liked it there a lot. The other new school that has been recruiting me hard is Maryville. I will be visiting there September 25. Minot State, Ohio Dominican, Wayne State, and also Quincy are in the mix.” He doesn’t hold any D2 offers at this time.
CJ Nwosu (Von Steuben – 2020)
Nwosu is a strong and powerful wing that broke out this spring and summer with Full Package. He said on his recruitment, “I went on a visit to Waldorf in Iowa. They want me. I have a visit to Ripon College. Illinois Tech wants me to visit. I have Wabash College interested. I am setting up a visit with Dominican University and Mount Vernon University.”
Taurean Holtam (Rock Island – 2020)
Holtam is a big and broad shouldered small forward that can flat out score the basketball! He told us as far as colleges recruiting him, “Iowa Wesleyan and Barry University are recruiting me.”
Connor McCance (Oswego – 2020)
McCance is a physical five man that rebounds well in his area and is efficient around the hoop. He told PHI, “I recently took a visit to Northern Michigan and got an offer from them. In a couple weeks I am doing a visit with UW-Parkside. In October I am doing one with Purdue Northwest.” What stood out about Northern Michigan? “I really liked their campus and facilities. Everything looks brand new. It is a great place to work.”
Aaron Tims (Hinsdale South – 2020)
Tims ranks among the top power forwards in the state and his play at the PrepHoops Top 250 Camp showed exactly why. When it comes to the next level he said, “Lewis, Minot State, Emporia State, Western Michigan, and Air Force have been hitting me up lately.” He visited Lewis a couple months ago. “The campus was nice. Not too big and not too small. They really showed a lot of love on the visit.” No offers at this time.
